27Mhz AM crystal sets

Hello all
I'm looking to start racing at York and only have 1 set of crystals. I think I need at least 3 sets, so has anyone got any pairs available? The set I have is orange and marked 27.095 and my radio gear is the old bog-standard Acoms Techniplus stuff.
I'm hoping to be at York this Saturday (10/3) to watch for a bit, if there are any local.

You can probably get away with one set of crystals to begin with or borrow some.

There loads on ebay for about a fiver.

Hi mate, I'm goin to York on Saturday, got a load of crystals. Got my own plus all half colours. I'll sort you out with a couple of sets.

I'll be near the door probably as you go in. Will prob be sat with a couple of mates, just ask for Loose. And get yourself registered to race in the 540 class, its great for beginners. We'll be in it being newbies ourselves, but everyones's friendly and there's no pressure. Its a good club.

Go to Halfords, find the RC section and look for those really small cars.

Look for the spare tyres etc... you can get a pack of 6 pairs of 27Mhz cyrstals for £15.

DON'T BOTHER THEY ARE NOW DISCONTINUED shame as they were only £6.99 on the website!!

If you google XMODS or XMT007 you'll find them for £19.99 in other shops.

Anyway, Leigh I'll be at York too on Saturday night I think I've got some spares you can have for a couple of quid. I'll have a look tonight. Just ask for Brett

Yeah I think they're the set I've got brett. A mate got them before they discontinued at Halfords. No way I'll use them all so no worries seeing Leigh right on Saturday.

So, If I'll be ok for crystals, the big question is:
Do I bite the bullet and race this Saturday? Will I be ok if I'm on my own (will my gear be ok left alone if I'm marshalling), or do most people have a 'buddy' with them? I think I've covered most bases:

• car
• 3X batteries, 12v charger & supply
• table/chair
• A few tools & spares

Anything else you would recommend I bring along?

You'll be fine alone. There's quite a few lone wolves that go. Everyone is helpful and friendly. No worries. Just pull up a chair!

Re Crystals... If you look in the bargain bin in halfords the sets you were talking about are down to £4,99. If you can find em! That's where Loose' s mate bought them from.
