Default Mid West at Southport

Who from down here is going up there for the National? Is it as grippy as published? I have stagger ribs on order.

I'll be there as ever! the grip isn't too bad, I certainly overstated it the first time I went!

The majority of the Astro has been re-laid which is fairly grippy and longer grained, however, there are certian sections that has old Astro and is less than grippy.

As long as it's dry then Schuuy Yellows will be the order of the day, get those staggered ribs off order Neil!

As for being from 'down there' I'm already up here!!

Will people be using brand new tyres since the grip is supposed to be immense??

Remember, you get 2 rounds of practice at a national, so my advice to you would be to just bolt on a brand new set in the morning, and try them in practice.

If there feels like you have too much bite, you can take some rows off if you want after 1st practice and run on them again for round 2 of practice.

By now they are slightly worn, and will be ready for your qualifiers if you think this what you're after.

Southport isn't just astro, there are cobbles and tarmac and concrete sections. It can be a big risk to try and go on worn tyres from the off because you never know where they are really in terms of wear rate, you may end up only getting one good run out of that set if they've done some running previously- you are better off starting on a new set and allowing them to wear through the day so you know where you stand, plus if you try them as new in practice, you will know that at some point in the day, should you be forced to fit a new set, how the car will feels on them.

I'll be there, we will probably get there about 3pm on friday.

The initial "mega grip" appears to have diminished, but the grip is still high in comparison to what it was. I think the grip is more evident in 4wd
than it is in 2wd....

Don't sell them - use them - I have not run minispikes (on the front) at Southport during this season at all....nor for most of last season.
