It stiffens the spring slightly, without having to change spring. As it's not as big a change as going to a harder spring

It does count...
Most spring calculation programs I have come across on the t'interweb ask for number of free coils, which means you dont have these coils in the calculation.... It's best to check a known spring first, Losi and Assoc provide spring rates.... from there you can work if you need to count the end coils or not.... ![]()
