Default Novak Super Flex Replacment Issue

I have bought a second hand Novak GTB ESC and SS Brushless motor. I have attached it all up and it works perfectly. However the previous owner needed the leads to the motors somewhat shorter than I do so I need to replace them to make them longer.

I can only find a US supplier of the offical Novak replacemnt wires (http://hobbyshack.com/Novak-Super-Fl...B000H6FZGQ.htm) does any one know what gague flux this is (maybe 14G)?

Would replacing it with generic 12G flux (such as http://www.apexmodels.com/gbu0-prodshow/APEX089.html) work?

Thanks

With a lowish power motor like this, any wire will be fine (12G, 14G or even 16G)

GTB are often connected to motors down to 4.5R with 14G size

Hey,

The standard wire on the GTB is 14ga wire. This can be directly replaced with any other 14ga silicone wire. One of the reasons for replacing with the Novak wire kit is to keep the same colour of wire as what come from the factory.

12ga wire can be made to fit. It's not easy to get it soldered onto the PCB / solder posts.

It all depends on what you want and how happy you are with soldering.

I ended up buying the 14G wire from DMS racing. Soldering the new wire was ok, the real issue was removing the old wire. after tring to remove it from melting the solder under neither I eventually cutt the wires as close as I could then using a very hot soldering iron (30w did not work had to use the 50w) to push from the top down to remove the remaining wire and solder.
