I wish I had read this when I was shopping.
The Kyosho ZX-5 RTR is at least as much buggy as my old Turbo Optima Mid or my old Tamiya Frog. The kyosho ZX-5 RTR is not the same as a regular ZX-5, buying an SP conversion for a ZX-5 will not make your ZX-5 RTR into a ZX-5 SP. The RTR uses cheaper plastics and cheaper drivetrain components. If you want an SP you should buy an SP. If you just want to have fun with a great R/C buggy for under $250, buy an RTR. Stock the RTR will go about 25mph with NiMh. It will do 4 wheel burnouts in the dirt. It will "fly" down the road at you and slide sideways to a stop at your feet on the asphalt. It is fun. Just dont expect to win any races with an SP. Stock it jumps level, lands well, and is remarkably controllable. It tends to push though tight high speed corners, but does great if you slow down for a turn like you are supposed to. Good Luck!
