5 days is very short to learn how to use a CNC lathe or machining centre properly...

It's about long enough to be dangerous.

Programming courses will last up to a year, most operators and setters will learn on the job whilst under close supervision.

Have to agree with Dom, having seen the utter devistation caused by a mistake on the feed speed on a CNC milling centre a few years ago as the investigating health and safety officer (also first first-aider on scene) I can assure you that no matter how good an engineer you are or what level of experience you have on manuals CNC can not and should not be rushed into.

I've looked at courses fairly recently and most are around 300 hours.

Cheers for the replies folks!

All i really wanted was the software stuff as like i say id done cnc work before at both college and uni, FAR from being properly trained but i can get by. Im gonna be heading of to the XYZ place in Blakburn. Its only so i can get my cert and say i have been trained on the software etc.

Then i can happily bang away making toy car / mountain bike stuff.

Thanks again
