Hi,

I have two questions which hopefully someone can answer.

1) How long does a rotor last in a brushless motor?

2) If you lose punch and topend speed gradually during a race does this mean the rotor is losing it magnetism due to heat build up?

I'm using Trakpower Lipos and they seem fine as they haven't had their 100 race cycles through them yet but during a race my car seems to lose some of it's top end and punch I suspect it's the rotor in the motor.

It's a recon motor so I've used it for 2 seasons and god knows how long it's been in the motor before it was sent back to Novak initially.

Hi dave i have had the centre of the rotar become de bonded but this took over a year to do and i have had a 7.5t slow through the race and de solder everything in the can due to heat build up. i know how fast your motor is. usually sidways on the straight when im coming round. Your motor is over geared for jarrow so go down 2 teeth this will help allot and if you can turn the top end down to 80-85% as this is what i usually do and the motor doesnt over heat hope this helps dave.

Bonded or sintered? If 2 years old quite possibly bonded in which case it will defo have lost it's magnetism, can be changed for sintered though without issue.

Sintered last ages in off road. I have 2 year old sintered motors that are as fast now as when I got them.

Whats up too good for Jarra now.

I've droppped down the size of the pinion and high end point but I suspect that the rotor is quite old.

I never had the motor from new someone else gave it to Novak for repair and now I've inherritted it.

My cars never run excessively hot unlike yours where the temperatures are comparable to the centre of the sun.

But honestly who has seen rotor life expectancies published anywhere because I haven't and I what like to know.

Unless it depends on the user.
