Default EZ RUN 5.5 TURN

Dad bought a EZ RUN 5.5 as a pit box spare. I usually run an LRP competition 2006 and a Reedy 3 star (6.5). I run 18/81 gearing in a 3 gear X6 powerd by a Trakpower 4900 LIPO. Ran the EZ RUN for the first time today before it goes back in the tool box. Found it to be really good and prefered it to my previous set up. It might go up in a puff of smoke, but so far so good. It was good enough to qualify 9th in the A final. Not bad for £62 delivered to your door. Motor and Speedo ran cool all day. Looks a really good combination for the money and ideal for newbies. Its the LRP that will be staying in the pit box for the time being.

I've been racing Ez-runs (9t and 5.5t) as have a load of others and they have been very good and fast. I think they are an unbadged version of another popular system. (I cant remember which one atm)

I believe that HobbyWing build Speed Passion, Venom, Yeah Racing and one or two others, the difference being component quality (on some of the higher-end models/brands) and branding in general. In general, though, it seems like pretty good quality stuff. I don't think HobbyWing is sold as a brand outside of China, but eBay is your friend...

I have the EZRun 5.5T and 60A ESC in a 4WD Durga and will probably get the 9T motor/ESC combo for a budget 2WD car too (less than £50 delivered...)

Default EZ RUN 5.5

JUST AN UPDATE TO MY POST. THE ACTUAL GEARING I RAN WAS 19/81 AND I FELT THE CAR WAS HITTING FULL REVS TO EARLY. PRETTY GOOD INDOORS BUT WITH AN EYE TO THE OUTDOOR SEASON IT WOULD BEEN OVER REVING HALF WAY DOWN THE STRAIGHT AT SOUTHPORT. WE TRIED 20/81 THE SPEEDO STILL RAN COOL ENOUGH BUT THE CAR WAS MUCH FASTER, ALMOST TO FAST FOR INDOORS BUT A GOOD BASE LINE SET UP FOR THE START OF THE OUTDOOR SEASON. I'LL KEEP POSTING OUR EXPERIENCES WITH THIS SYSTEM AS THERE IS NO GEARING INFO OR ADVICE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS.
