"Build a buggy track" is a bit vague.

Where are you building it? What is the surface? What do you have to use as track marking?

Buggy tracks can be as simple as a field of grass with some ropes, or as complicated as... well, I'm sure you've seen some of the tracks that have hosted big meetings, the only limit is your imagination (and making the track driveable of course).

Visit www.mbv.be that is a proper fllowing Off-Road track with all the types of features you could want. Better still take a run down to Kampenhout Belgium and have a look.
Regards.

I have found walking the land and laying out potential routes to be far more informative then drawing on paper, when i done mine I used old bits of wood and any other crap I could find nearby to do a mock up.then I fired up the bobcat and built her.

Don't be too elaborate, I wanted a huge table top, spent hours (days) on it, the face was five foot high, the approach didn't suit it, Novice drivers couldn't even get up it. I severely reduced its size, and then removed it almost entirely so shes now just a mound, Dead easy to drive over, makes a beautiful jump leading into a wide corner that shrinks drasticly into a short straight,a tight corner and a small tabletop.

Chose your materials wisely, You need clean fill, any rubbish will come to the surface, I have had entire bricks appear in a single session and smash a car to bits. I eventually have to remove nearly my entire track and start over.

Small retaining walls for the jumps work wonders.

Lots and lots of weed spray, I used a product that kills the ground for 6 months, Was sweet as, Then the track got little use over winter and then summer hit and the track turned into a jungle. Took approx 10 hours work to get it drivable.

Consider drainage of your site, When you pack a surface down rock hard the water can't go through it, so will pool on it instead, How are you going to combat this? Also, when the track gets dry will you have a method of watering it?, a dry track will rut out very quickly and can't be compacted.

But most of all, Build everything to be temporary until your happy with how it works, and then fix it all properly.
