As above. Bought one to try the 'to go faster you have to drive slower' theory. Its not arrived yet, just wondered if anyone else uses one? Or if it will just be too slow. Ive got a 6.5 right now but hardly ever use its full potential

I run one here in the states. 19T racing is pretty popular. They are great on smaller tracks.

Did all my early driving on a 10.5 in a B4, then in my X6 when I changed over as well, all on smallish indoor tracks...didn't have the guts on the straights, but they are only short and the drivability on the infield made up for it...was never too far off the pace and often kept faster motors honest.
Although I did then change up to an 8.5 to add that grrrr and finally now a 7.5 (I've been doing some outdoors where the 10.5 seemed just tooo slow)...infield is more tricky to drive now and my throttle control is being tested/developed, but I can keep up on the straights where I was lacking before. Def made for tidy driving, easier to drive lines, consistent lap times, but just missed the outright pace at times...great to learn on for me, and useful on smaller tracks.

Tim, I've got an unopened X12 7.5 I'll sell you if you want more power than a 10.5 and less than a 6.5

I run a novak 10.5 in mine and even on the big tracks i think its plenty of power. It all depends aswell on what batteries you are using.
Mine can keep up with a 6.5 motor no problem on the straights. Its just getting the gearing right and have some good power batteries.

well i run my x6 in the players this weekend with the 10.5t in and the buggy felt great. Only run the buggy twice now and had my best result today, finishing 10th in the open class. I know its not a result to brag about considering the "elite" guys were in a different league but still, im dead chuffed. The motor, coupled with the x6's forgiving style made it so easy to get around the track. i was lacking a bit on the straight but it was fine infield. It will be staying i think. Thanks to x factory for making me atleast FEEL like a good driver

a 10.5 motor will no way have the rip out of the bends compaired to 6.5 unless the grip is very low

Here in the U.S. we have a whole class dedicated to 10.5 -- no faster motor allowed. Those guys have a blast and it's very competitive. At some races we even have a class called "Old Dude 10.5 truck" limited to that motor and guys 40+.
And you are right -- gear it to the moon and put a fan on it. I run a 17.5 in my X - 60 geared 30/70! It's too fast for me... Brian and Ellis do more with throttle control in their sleep than I can on the rostrum. Less motor gives me a fighting chance. With my level of skill, the single most important thing is to keep it out of the hands of the marshals. Less motor helps me do that. |
