How to spot a digital servo

Hi All

I have a unbadged KO servo which I want to plug into a HRS reciever. However I've been told if its an analogue Servo the HRS will make the servo go pop!

I cant afford that, so is there an easy way to check if the servo is digital if I open the case?

A quick way to check would be the noise it makes under load. Try plugging it in, leave it at neutral and try to push the servo horn to one side. Digital servos have a tendancy to whine and buzz quite loudly in this situation.
It's not foolproof but it'll give you an idea

Another thing to check is overshoot returning to neutral. If you hold the stick over one way and let go an older analogue servo will go slightly past centre on return to neutral.

Cheap digital servos do this as well, got one which will continually overshoot and correct itself for a minute or two at a time

The loud noise a digital servo makes when you try and push it is the biggest giveaway.

I cant check it on the website as it doesnt have a label and most of them share the same case design.

Its not a cheapy servo it, returns to 0 quickly everytime (When my brother plugs it into my set-up) Its just that he has this servo and a HRS set-up and the servo will blow if he plugs it in and its not digital.. And he aint got the cash to just go blowing up KO servos
