Default Synthesized / Digital / HRS Confusion... help please!

I'm looking to upgrade my standard R153F 40mhz futaba micro receiver to the synthesized R303FHS, where you just dial in the frequencies (I know its not quite 2.4Ghz but it'll do me for now).

The synthesized receiver is 'HRS compatible' and will be used with my futaba 3gr fs tranny. I assume this means i'll be able to use my analogue blue bird servo without frying it as the HRS mode can be turned off? Isthe receiver therefore both analogue and digital?

Also, If I'm not using HRS mode, would i see any difference in performance vs my old standard receiver, or would i just be paying for the convenience of not having to buy crystals?

And finally, I assume if I got a digital servo eventually, I'd be able take advantage of the HRS function on the R303FHS receiver and enjoy more responsive steering?

Cheers

I used to run this before going 2.4ghz, it's a great setup!

I am fairly sure it is digi and analogue, I'm sure when I first had it I was using analogue servo's. If I remember you set it at the tranny end rather than the receiver end though, not sure if anyone can clarify?? Your GR has a HRS setting yeah, does it also have a frequency setter on the tranny, otherwise you still need crytals fro the tx end?

I think when not set at HRS, there's no performance difference, but it really is nice having all of the frequency's, and no crystals, you'll never have trouble findng a free frequency with it!!

And yep, when you go digital on the servo, you'll see a good performance step up when then switching to HRS, its is seriously fast!

However, one thing to note: Don't buy the receiver from HK or the far east, they use different 40mhz frequencies to here in the UK so it won't work!!!

Now that's what i call a comprehensive response - cheers!

can't sell the receiver, so if there isn't likely to be a performance difference, I'll probably stick with it for now and get another crystal
