Hi guys
Just upgraded my lads radio to an M11 which has tons more features than his previous DX2.0! I keep hearing mention of how altering 'dual rate' improves the cars performance but why? and how? ....... HELP!!!! Question 1 of 100!! |

Basically, "dual-rate" is a way of decreasing servo travel. On the steering, it is a way of decreasing lock to decrease oversteer and possibly make the car carry a bit more speed through corners, but decrease it too much and you might struggle to steer around the track! Always best to set the car up for the conditions and use the transmitter for fine adjustments on the rostrum. Anyway, a quick guide to setting up the steering properly on a high-end radio. 1. Start from a reset model memory so there are no hidden settings from the previous user. 2. First setting is sub-trim. Set this so the servo horn is at a geometric centre when all the steering linkages are set evenly. 3. With the dual-rate set at 100%, the next setting is EPA (end point adjustment, also called ATV). Set this so that the steering servo reaches full lock (no more, no less) at full travel left and right. Don't strain the servo. 4. Final setting, which you would only use on the track, is the dual-rate. If the car has too much steering, reduce it a little. I always make sure that the car can still turn full circle in the narrowest section of the track, otherwise you might not be able to steer yourself out of trouble in traffic. Hope that helps. |

Thanks for that. Thats a good little tutorial about setting up a quality radio system. I was wondering myself about dual rate and how to properly set the steering up. Cheers Rich.
