Default Sourcing a 501x shock shaft?

I can't seem to find any front damper shaft replacements anywhere. I'm trying to avoid going to the local machinist's and having a few made out of steel, though that really might be a better idea. These things really seem to enjoy snapping..

I've looked at the usual locations for replacements, but haven't found any. Thoughts?

Thanks guys!
I must have either been looking in all the wrong places, or just using terrible search strings.
