Default How do you clear up surface rust?

Hi all, I'm working on my first restoration project (Lazer ZX) and the turnbuckles and dogbones have some surface rust. Is there a method I can use to get them looking new again?

Many thanks in advance,
Jay.

I always run them up in a drill with some metal polish

Or you could buy lunsford tie rods & stainless steel screws

Stick them in some phosphoric acid solution or if you don't have that, overnight in some Coca Cola.

If you get the worst off with a fine steel wire cup brush in a drill then swap to a brass wire brush it adds a slight gold sheen
