Default April 4th and 5th Drift Car event - RC Display -CANCELLED!!!

I am currently talking with Naill who organises the following event http://www.jdmallstars.com/events/newcastle.asp about possibly putting an RC display on, nitro and electric off road

I need to know if people would be interested in coming along to put a display on, there would be free entry for those involved with the display and would likely be ran in race format over the day. There will most likely be an opportunity over lunch time to watch the Drift display, so looks like it could be a good day out aswell as promotion for the clubs.

If you can reply on here if you would be interested and which days, there is no facilities for overnight stays at present but the display will probably be between 10am and 3pm. If those from out of the area need to stay over we can provide details of Travel Lodges etc in the area.

We will be taking some of the ramps etc from Jarrow up there so could also do with volunteers available that weekend to help with set up.

The event holders will be in charge of making the area safe, they will also be ensuring there is an area sectioned off from publicly accessible areas for pitting.

Thank you

No problem Chris, I know the indoor finals is on but when I have mentioned this before some were unsure if they were going. If people can give me a clue as to who isn't going, I can decide if it's worth taking further. It's an ideal event to promote the clubs as they get thousands usually at these events.

Thank you

Aprreciate some are at Nationals, can't be helped that it clashes but personally looking at what is on it's going to be great and I know where I would rather be

Just had a meeting with Naill who is running this event

We have now got a place to display at this event. What will be set up looks brilliant!

There will be limited places for racing so please let me know ASAP and drop me a PM if you want to be part of this. I will confirm those who have definate places. You can come along without a place but will need to pay entry. I am hoping to get passes posted to me so will ask for your address to send them to when they arrive.

Parking - we have very limited number of parking places 'backstage', priority will be given to those who are sharing a car with another driver as we don't have spaces for everyone. You will need to let me know if you need a parking place or who you're coming with. There is multistorey fairly close where we can collect people and their kit from if we run out of our allocated places.

Setting up - we should have access from Wednesday before onwards when they are building the skate park, drift track etc from. Pete will be picking up the trailer from Jarrow with ropes etc in on the Wednesday hopefully. If you can help out please PM with when you're free (Wednesday-Friday before)

Please can you let people without internet access know, this should be a brilliant weekend, we're right at the entrance so maximum exposure for the clubs to promote it and will be chances over the weekend to watch the skate park, MotoX, drifting etc!

Thank you

Definately, going to be a great weekend loads of other stuff on too. Trying to convince them to let some of the guys loose on the skate/bmx park for a little while. One of the biggest mobile skate parks being created for the event too.

This sounds like a good weekend to me ! I will be there at least one day ! I will pm you peter ! If there is a shortage of numbers then maybe if those who can run 2wd and 4 ? This way there will be more races ?
Maybe we could introduce each class eg nitro then electric and even 18th 10th 8th etc and bring them out for a few laps each and talk about them and then after they are all out one track they can have a mini race (carefully) this way it breaks up the racing and would make it a little more interesting and informative to the public ?

Tim, all those are really good ideas but I think the main issue we'll have is noise on the day. I am unsure if we'll be able to/be allowed to do that over the PA system and be heard. I will consider it but the drift side will be very noisy!

Main day we're struggling for is the Saturday at the minute, a lot more can make Sunday.

We need flyers/posters etc for the club doing, posted on Jarrow section incase anyone works for/knows anyone.

Will reply to PMs in a mo.

I was thinking that people love action right ? Well big jumps are as good as it gets but the track is concrete and falling cars and concrete don't work well ! What about some thin mates that can go under the some carpet on the landing area. Have the carpet tucked under the back of the jump as tapeing carpet to Tarmac will not work well. This way we can do some big jumps and not reck the cars ?

With the track it depends what we can fit in the trailer, what we have (carpet and small square mats are ours, we can't use schools equipment) and how many can help FRIDAY during the day to set up, if anyone can help please let me know, the space will be smaller than Jarrow hall so I am doubtful any huge jumps will be possible. The 1/8th can handle much more hammering so will probably leave big jumps to them.

From the website

Venue open to the Public:
Saturday 10.00am to 5.00pm
Sunday 9.00am to 5.00pm

I was unsure of times until I found that. I am hoping we can get in from about half an hour before so people can set up. Waiting for an email back.

We still have a couple of places if anyone else wants to come along.

DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST/SUPPORT WE'RE UNABLE TO COMMIT TO THE NUMBERS REQUIRED AND HAVE HAD TO CANCEL OUR PARTICIPATION AT THIS EVENT

Sorry to disappoint those who were interested

Maybe next event won't clash with a national and an indoor regional
