x11-chassis (vs X10, ...)

I wondered, noticing that on the X11 the steerink rod goes over the chassis to the steering link, as with the X10, it goes THROUGH the chassis, ... is the X11-chassis lower then the X10-chassis.

Or is there another reason why the steering rod doesn't have to go through the chassis-wall.


Also 2ndly, isn't Team Xtreme thinking about a new layout, making the Pred suitable for stickpacks (as they once were, as I learned from Cooper's Pred-collection) now that battery's as Lipo and in the future maybe A123, LiFe ... make it possible to use the stickpack and still not having problems with weight distributions.
Also, he cut-out battery-slots could be removed, making it easier to keep the Pred tidy inside

I'm not an expert on the X11 but i think its because the servo is face up? (so the servo mount is higher, rather than the chassis being lower)

no the servo is not face up in he x11 that is a mod that can be done to any pred. the x11 chassis is different in many ways. it has riased sides for cornering. and has been milled out to fit the new aluminium suspension blocks. and you now have the ability to run different anti-squat options and run beefier suspension shafts 3mm over the 2mm. plus the steering linkis above the chassis i think to allow it to not touch the batteries that way it is less likely to short the batteries

i was under the understanding that it was so there was less holes in the chassis to make it stronger/ more rigid...... id guess the sidewalls may be slightly lower to compensate for the more contoured design of the bottom. it all looks to be the same height though just the steering rod isnt bent in the same way. also looks like the bellcranks sit a lil higer with the alloy x brace........ haven got one to hand though only my trusty p8

Hi Lowie, Ill try to answer all you questions

1... The X11 chassis to my knowledge is no lower than that on the X10, the steering rod goes over the chassis instead of through it to make the chassis more rigid as rowan said, i guess it all helps to eliminate the chance of shortin batteries but im pretty sure that wasnt the sole reason of moveing it..

2... The team are currently working on a new chassis layout and have been for sometime as far as i know, this is to accept stick pack lipos as far as im aware. Im not sure if a new chassis has been designed as of yet or if the prototypes are just using a normal X11 chassis that has then been modified to fit...

I studied the X11-manual some more and I discovered that the steering rod is attached in a different way to the steering links, no longer with the clevis. Very obvious, but I never paid attention to it.
This makes the link-point being a little higher then on the X10, ... and thus easier to mount the steering rod above the chassis.

I was just wondering how and what because I'm looking for the best way to do the stick-pack-mod on my X10 as well.

After some reflection, I understood this is a very good alternative when using Lipo's, preventing the need for buy sadlepack-lipo when you don't have one.
I do have some stickpack Lipo's as we run them in our Touring-cars.
This way I could use these stickpack-lipo's in all my cars.

So I'll make a new hole in the X10-body, on the left side, and pass the steering link through this hole, as it was on the right side, and not over the body as with the x11.


and about the other matter: new chassis. I really like the fluent line of the actual body.
And with a stickpack, I think there is enough place for all electronics, and maybe even easier to find a place for everything.
I think the only thing I would do is provide some other mounting holes (for the battery posts, servo, ..) and closing the battery-cut-outs.
Might be for the X12 maybe

Lowie, Old predators had stick batteries at the side, like the International one. Take a look at mine:

Original support was only with velcro straps so I replaced it with two post and DIY tray and CF brace.

Yes, I knew. Cooper already explained me about Pred-history and he showed me some of his older models.

Why changung the velcro-strap for a Carbon brace?
I would have tought the velcro to be easier to use?

and with the spur gear so close...
