Default cloned personal transponders

I have an AMB personal transponder but was wondering if the following is possible :-

I race various different classes and sometimes if racing 2 classes in the one night either don't have time to swap the PT between cars or simply can't be bothered as that was the whole point in the first place i.e. put the PT in the car then leave it. Now here's the big question,,,,,,, can I get my PT id cloned and still use it therefore having the same id in different cases to save having to swap and change ?

Yes

you can have your red AMB PT cloned so you have the same number in the MRT PTX in the links mentioned above.

or you can could/can get either of the following which are a little cheaper but they need to be programmed by the owner for their heat # and final #. Simple push button operation.

MRT PTX Shrink R9984

R9980 PTX-20C Transponder

As the others have said yes you can. I've just had mine cloned by MRT, I now have my original amb one and two MRT's all with the same number.

I sent mine last monday via next day insured and paid the extra £2.50 to have it returned to me ASAP and it came back to me last friday. My two cloned ones arrived yesterday, total cost of £87 I believe.

You can also have them custom made with different LED colours, different wire lengths and the standard tabs as per the AMB ones but they cost a little more.

I've been tempted with this, but have always wondered whether the lap counting softwares out there can cope with the same transponder number appearing more than once. (eg if running 2wd and 4wd on the same day)
Does anyone know if this would be a problem?

It's not a problem mate, the computer is looking for the the numbers on the transponders as has been booked in. Even if you use a different transponder it still logs the lap time but it doesn't know which car it is, race control can then ammend this after the race.

Cool, I was just worried I'd get somewhere and get 'computer says no' when they tried to put in a PT number twice!
Does that mean then that with the MRT preset numbers, as long as they're not in the same heat then you wouldn't need to worry about someone else turning up with the same number?
I hope this is making sense!

Yep, if they do happen to be in the same heat you can change the number, mine has come with 20 preset numbers and my own amb number, I can switch between them whenever required. E.g if I loan it out to a mate and I'm in the same race using my amb.

I have a couple of cloned PT's now, one number to remember is far better. I also use the cloned PT's rather than the AMB PT, they are just as reliable but have a smaller footprint.

MRT's service is astonishingly good. Print the form of the website, fill it out and send off your AMB PT. if you pay the small surcharge they send the PT back to you and it'll be back within the working week (If you send it out on Monday). Then within approx 2 weeks they'll get the cloned one back to you.
