Default Stick Radio Plunge

Hi I am about to about to start racing after a long lay off, I need a descent stick radio with the necessary adjustments for 1/10th Off Road. I am not to sure that I can stomach the £400 plus for a KO/Sanwa set up. But does anyone use the Futuba 4T-GRS @ £220 set up or even cheaper the Code/Etronix setup at £60. They all seem to share the features including mix on the code setup which surprised me. Any advice please as I am itching to get going. Thanks MC

Invest in a decent radio as it is one of the most important thing you can buy. Buy once and right and you never have to replace it. Stick radios are getting less common and top models are scarce. I've changed from Futaba (3VC) too a KO (Universe) which went wrong and finally now have a Sanwa X and have had it for 2-3 years and love it.

I also have a Futaba 4GRS, I upgraded from a CoreRC one. I wouldnt personally say it made a massive difference to my driving, but I could tell the response time was faster than the CoreRC and it does feel nicer too.

I've noticed a few of the top drivers in my area use the Futaba now too so must be half decent and quite a saving over the KO/Sanwa.

As for options, the CoreRC has pretty much everything the Futaba has, it is a pretty impressive transmitter for the price... considering just a Sanwa receiver is more than an entire CoreRC transmitter & receiver

I've used the core rc radio for years and it's never let me down. I have two slight issues with it but for the price I can live with them:
1) The receiver is quite bit, not a problem for most car but a p.i.t.a. for 1/12.
2) The stick are quite long. I like short stick and have shortened mine once the warranty ran out.

The lag on a core stick radio makes them unusable as far as i'm concerned.
move the stick, then wait for the response at the car. It's ultra laggy. You won't do your driving any favours with one. Go to a local meeting and try one, compared to a proper radio.

Try pickup a Sanwa Gemini X, either new or used.
Or look at a second hand Sanwa Exces X, a KO Esprit Ultra 3/4 or one of the newer 2.4 futaba stick radios. They cost, but you can always sell them on for what you pay for it, if you end up not taking to it.

Matt; I'm with Neal on this, big Sanwa fan. I've dropped you a DM as I've one for sale, and there are a couple of others knocking about on here and on eBay. HTH

Buy a Hobbyking HK3100 receiver, half the price of the CoreRC receiver and literally half the size too! Hooks up perfectly to the transmitter. I used one for almost two years before I got the Futaba.
