Default Alternative to anti ware grease

Looking to see if there is anything i can use from round the house garage as an anti ware grease alternative, seem to have a lot of people saying Vaseline!!!, its to help seal a diff and protect o rings, thanks for any ideas

Some say (in true clarkson voice) that Vaseline makes some O rings swell so could seal your diff but tighten it aswell. I use silicone grease but get it in pen lids full from work as it's expensive stuff.

best thing to seal diffs and shock seals with is ae green slime. soak the seals in the grease for ten min or so then build diff/ shock as normal. I've never had a leak since using this method.
