Default Tyres for Indoors

I have tried the mini spike yellows and they were not great at jarrow and were not good at all at the teeside regional. Most seemed to use mini pins yellow. When I used to race years ago we used to use yellow full spikes do these not work ? My mini spikes have done the regional and are very worn on the back (b4). Don't think they will last another race meeting. That's why I am thinking full spikes will last longer but will they go well ?

Hi

Im a member of jarrow. If you want consistant tyres for slippy floor at jarrow in 2wd it has to be yellow mini spikes. once we put more carpet down its mini pins. but these dont work in 2wd with out carpet. Full spikes make the car feel numb. if you play with the set up youll get the b4 sorted for jarrow. Give me a shout next time and you can try my set up at jarrow.

cheers

Yellow fullspikes do work on slippery floors but you are talking about 1-2laps slower than minispikes/minipins over a full race. We run them at our club because they last forever and the hall we race on isnt that slippy. I get about 60-70 races out of a set.

At jarrow its realy slippy. Think of ice rink and your nearly there. thats why we all use 4wd.

So full spikes are no good ! besides I could not find any 2wd full spikes dont think they make them. I am trying to get some spares so I can set the car up. All i have is whats on the car when i got it. I need some springs and shock oil. What weight oil is best (no idea whats in it now). You can get hop-up spring sets with 5 rates of springs is this what I need ? I have raced once (one race) at jarrow and it was slippy.

I would say just get some silver, green and blue front springs, you should have browns with the kit. and silver and green rear, i doubt you would need any more for uk tracks.

It hard for me to tell if I had it setup right cos it was my first run in 14 years. I really don't know much about setting them up. It felt ok at jarrow but at the teeside regional it was understeering loads cmpared to other cars. I am going to wait until after Xmas to race again as I will have my 2.4ghz tranny the 27 one I have doesn't play nice with the brushless. Really enjoying being back in RC tho !

Tim Have you got weights in your car as i noticed you were running lipos. Might be why you were understeering. I had to stick an additional 10 grams of weight on top of me servo in my B4 to stop understeer...

neil...

I have just made a 12v power supply out of an old PC power supply ! works a treat
