isnt really was looking at the x11 as i had a xrs a few years ago but thought id see what you guys could recomend.

only getting back into electric because not sure if local 1/8 ralley crosstrack is staying open.

so there might be a xray 808 with extras and os v spec and pipe, starter ect ect( only done 2 race meetings) up for sale for swap for right car

all the main competition kits are more than capable, and spares for all of them are freely available with the exception of maybe the Tamiya 501x.

Basically look at what is performing well at your local club and if you can get spares locally for it or trackside in an emergency.
Maybe try out a few cars at the club and see which one suits you.

People can recommend anything and have a huge raging debate as always happens in this type of thread. Only answer is go and try some for yourself.

Yea everyone recomends the car they are running for example i would recomend the xx4. So the best option is to get out there and see what you like the look of.

Somthing that i would have thought as a good idea would be ..

Somthing strong
Easy to drive
Easy to set-up
Easy to work on
Not too complicated
Easy to find spares
AND performs on the track

Team Associated B44 in my eyes..

b44 seems the right price but ive allways liked the predator style, saying that a b44 is £100 less and i could get a brushless with the savings.

The Predator is an awsome car and is real quick but coming from racing 8th's which obviously arent as nimble as 10th buggy's anyways the easier lesser nible car between the Predator and B44 would be the B44 id of thought and like you say you can save £100 over the price of the X11...

Could get a £115 Losi brushless system and a very good second hand B44 for the price of a new X11 really..

Not really seen many second hand Predator X11's for sale though?

Just a quick pointer - although the X11 is a bit more - you won't need to spend any extra to get it to top racing spec. (The X11-08 comes with all the upgrades)

If you need any info please just email [email protected]

What do you need for a B44 to make it competitive?

Does the X11 08 now include the roll bars, losi springs and the pistons drilled to the correct size?

Im sure thats how the team are running them

Lee or someone can correct me but if I think the X5 fits them too?

Needs dremelling etc I think though!? Although takes more work to get one setup than the other cars mentioned here (don't know about "upgrades", just in terms of time/technique to build!)

Roll bars are optional as far as i'm aware and i haven't been using them for weeks, except on high grip smooth tracks (indoor). I'm not sure there are many cars that do supply roll bars in the kit, but a lot use them don't they?

X11 springs are fine, as per my posted setup, and i think a few people are using this - it uses the standard pred springs.

What is a correct size hole in a piston? All we are doing is tuning them, and its not the only car where this is done i'm sure....

Yup most of the team now run 4900 stick packs in the X5, i think E runs an even bigger one in his. It just requires a bit of shaving with a dremel. The car does require some dremel work when building but this is pointed out in the manual and i had never even touched a xx4 before i built the x5 and managed it with no issues.

Personally i love the x5, i have never had a car which floats over bumps like it, yes it may be a few years old now but there is pretty much always one or 2 in the A final, whether it be national or regional.

Come to think of it, i think i was the only person running one yesterday at the regional

To the original poster: how fussed are you about cell technology? If your happy with Nimh, then you could also look at the Bmax (if parts support is ok for it in the uk?), it's a good simple kit with great results!

If you are only interested in going Lipo then at the moment I'd only look at Cat Sx or X5, if others can run stick packs someone add to my list!

Cat Sx is your standard type kit, one box and set of instructions and off you go, for X5 a donor car and a bit of dremelling, but if your ok doing that a bloody quick car too!!

Virtually all cars have some further options people use, not sure on the B44 mind, but X5 people add shock tower braces, bigger hub carrier screws etc, Bmax maybe extra roll bar stuff, maybe springs, presumably the Cat as well?

The thing about threads like this is that it always comes down to what people run and like themselves because the question asked is all down to personal preference. There are so many competitive cars out there now that people can't decide what you will like and what is going to be the quickest, it is often down to the day, the track and the driver.

If you like the Pred, get one it is a brilliant car and is very quick... don't be put off by what people are saying on this forum because some are biased against it, plus at the end of the day it is YOU that will be racing it.
If you have now chosen against the predator then go for a b44 or a Cat or even an x5, they are all more than capable and will get you great results. I would be put off the x5 due to all the dremeling that needs to be done to build it, but again that is just my view and so this may not worry you.

And to add to your list Dave the pred can also be run with a lipo stick pack with a small bit of modification.

some good coments lad's

i like the cat sx its strong easy to build no messing about with donor cars etc parts are avalible next day from anywhere and most shops keep them in stock..

mine was good straight out the box and fits lipo with out messing about.
and re sale value is good as the car is the one to have at the moment in my eyes... i have bought bits for the cat but thats just because i like messing with stuff i cant say any ofd them made it any better or worse..

hope this helps.
