No contest YZ-2, great quality, works on all surfaces and great spares/back up service and top driver set up/support from Lee Martin etc

I drive a B5M, it runs well on many different surfaces now that I have it set up to go with my driving style. There are plenty of spares and there is an abundance of pro driver setup sheets on the web (sure the last 2 points are the same for both cars in question). On the other hand the YZ2 is a great car and every yz2 racer that I have spoken to loves them, plus go great when on the track.

I too would agree, yz2 seems to be much better and easier to drive in standard set up.
I base this statement on a friend of mine who I race with and Over the past year we have had so great races (a bit down the pecking order, but we are pretty equal). He recently switched to a b5m and I got a yz2. Looking at our lap times from Sunday it has almost instantly given me 2s per lap over him. I am not 2s per lap quicker, so it must be the car. My car is box set up

What surface are you wanting to run on?
B5M is well suited to US clay style tracks, but at a disadvantage to the YZ2 on higher grip astro and carpet tracks. It's still a good all-rounder, and yo can't say Neil Cragg is slow with his. He's not running a box kit car on high grip though... B5M is still decent quality and parts are readily available. I suspect there will be a revision to the B5M from AE after the worlds, basically their version of the low gearbox and further forward motor that comes with the YZ2 now. YZ2 is fantastic. I can't fault it.

Ive seen quite a few YZ-2's they go like rockets and everyone I know ho has them loves them, having said that Ive heard that when the grips not there they are hard to handle, one guy at the regionals wasnt getting along with his at southport regionals a few weeks back when it was wet.
Having said that I've bought 2 b5ms (1 brand new £165 and 1 second hand £100 both off oopl) for less that the price YZ-2 and couldnt be happier. coming from our dex210's the b5m feels great and really easy to drive. I dont think you can go wrong with either and with a few places bringing out gear box configurations like Reds B5m low rider you have options a plenty |

I haven't had both but I own a YZ2 and it's great but it depends on what surface you run on. I tend to find once the tyres are half worn the grip drops dramatically yet the same tyres work on my BMAX2.
If the grip is medium to low then stick with mid motor. Ask for a drive of each one if someone is willing to let you have a go. The YZ2 is very direct so you need to keep your wits about to get the best out of it. If you get it right it's a very rewarding car to drive. |

I get whooped every week by a guy with a B5M, and i drive a YZ2 in the F2 league, think ability first, the car will follow IMHO!
The Yokomo i cant fault, on the right night with grip in hand and a decent set up, its insane how fast and late you can dive into a corner for an overtake, this causes me some crashes as you just arrive so fast and the car sticks and carves into some crazy gaps lol! That said, the AE car goes very well at our club, and i still cant touch the F1 drivers with them! Lee

And as Dpackster said, if the grip isnt there, its a lairy car to drive, but arent they all!
