Can you get a protective screen cover for this transmitter just as you can for smart phones ?

Also, what's the best aluminium case to safely store this in so it will last ?

Yeah, just get one for a big phone screen and stick and cut it to fit.

I've got a team c case, not an alloy one but I think it's excellent
