So,
I've just got hold of a B4 in preperation for the Petit Race in Jan... having raced a 4wd before (and only once at that!), I'm itiching to get racing with a 2wd.. however don't want to balls it up!! Been doing some searching on here, and have a few Q's. Weight - I've had a XXX before, and had a load of lead in the front... am I correct in thinking the B4 likes the lead at the back under the rear brace? Any other places I need to be putting it? What about the weight with LiPo, did see one thread mentioning some people like it with weight, others without... ![]() Given I'm going to be running at the Petit (full carpet, with jumps ![]() Front Blue springs, #2 piston, 35wt oil, mid top, in on arm, Longest camber link, -1deg camber, 25deg castor Rear Silver springs, #1 piston, 30wt oil, mid top, in on arm, longest camber link, -2deg camber, short wheelbase, 1deg anti squat. Tyres I would guess at schui yellow mini-pins... although stagger ribs on the front have been suggested??? Is this a good place to start off with? Anything else people can suggest? Cheers Ed |

![]() I've tried to get my B4 going well without loads of extra weight but with the power we have now it just doesn't work in 2wd, as soon as you get on the throttle the front goes light, ploughs straight on and wants to to rolling wheelies all the time too ![]() I've settled on a 1mm thick lead strip under the pack (about 100g I think) so the car is still lighter than it was with nimh but just heavy enough to calm it down, also running the Trishbits brass squat block which adds just under 30g to the rear. You're in the ballpark on the setup, but I wouldn't go for long camberlinks on carpet - too sluggish and too much bodyroll. Start off with them inner-inner on the front, and inner-middle at the back, 1 washer under the inner ballstud all round. Have some inline steering blocks/axles handy too, they work really well for me on carpet ![]() Minipins all round on carpet, staggers are for wimps! See you at Petit ![]() |

I was wondering about the links... couldn't find too much info, so took a punt ![]() Cheers for the tips on the lead too. I've been using LiPo in my tourer for almost a year now, so am used to having to ballast em up ![]() ![]() Pins all round it is then... I'm no wimp ![]() |

I am running a 6.5R Novak with Trakpower 3600 30c Lipo. It is a bit of a wheelie-king, but with the slipper backed off and I have 20g around the servo - aswell as a brass (Trishbits) rear bulkhead.
I am going to put a brass front bulkhead on soon (Trishbits), without removing any of the existing lead. With the amount of power I am trying to use, additional weight is needed. |

the vast majority use medium inserts but a few do use the hard inserts, I guess its down to personal preferance of what you prefer

With Minipins it makes little to no difference. I run Schumacher green inserts which are medium in all tyres (especially now I am using pre-mounts). I will not run anything harder, ever, in a Minispike which has less thickness of rubber in the tyre a hard insert reduces grip. In the past I have also used Edit soft (purple) inserts which are extremely good and re-use many more times than anything else I have used.
