Having had a couple of bad club meetings where my driving has been worse than usual ( see abismal ) and my temper has been somewhat short I've decided to stop for a week maybe 2.

I'm gonna strip and rebuild the b44 and the tc5 so there as good as they can be so when I go back I wont have any doubts over my kit.

I also think I need to exercise my hand eye coordination and my reflexes so a decent console with a couple of driving games may be in order, I've heard of a game called virtual rc but I dont know if any of the consoles support it.

I'll probably go for a ps3 as it'll also play blu rays on my nice new 1080p telly and from what I read on here the xbox is a bit unreliable.

so peeps any sugestions on possible games to improve my racing

virtual RC is on the PC. new version due out soon including off road tracks.

as for consoles, Xbox! Forza 2, Project gotham 4 and Grid

PC with Live for speed best racing sim out there. I started with demo now im adsicted i have my own team and server to make it even better im upgrading my pc to use maz settings bought a wheel 22 inch wide screen monitor radeon 4850 and the s2 version and its awsome fun and like real racing.

Nope sorry, games may improve your hand eye coordination but i dont think games like Virtual RC help your racing. One thing which always helps people is slower motors (or turn it down on speedo/tranny) and turning punch down on speedos so you have longer to react to a possible crash.

I guess just racing on harder and harder tracks and against better and better drivers (and watching them) is the best way to improve if you can already 'do' model car racing

Fire in a slow motor, so the car is completely dead and you can nearly go full throttle everywhere and concentrate on running 5min perfectly without missing an apex. I find that usually helps me when my driving is a bit out of control.

I've quite often TQ'd with hardly any power compared to other people simply by running a near perfect race.

I'm running slow motors already ( 13.5 brushless in the tc5 and 6.5 brushless in the b44 )

I can and have driven better, I think its more a head thing and a hand eye practice I need.

I dug out an old ps2 and gt3 last nite and drove around a few tracks with the controller set as a set of rc sticks would be I wasn't to bad but as in rc racing my lap times suffered when tiredness and distractions occured, I've also had this head cold for a couple of weeks which gives me a permant fuzzy head

Is a 6.5 in a 4wd a slower motor? Have you tried your 13.5 in the 4wd, its not all about speed when it comes to buggy's.

if u want a game to really test u!! get a ps3 and get wipeout hd set it how it was orgionally set before that silly patch to help losers and get playin. the speed means you have to pay attention most the time :P

A pair of glasses may help, i find i struggle on far corners of tracks, i know i need some, maybe you do too

ive know you for like 3 and bit years now and in thet time ive seen you go in both direction when you try you can get it round as good as most you do have a temper as do i and i know what your going through with that dude

i think you should try a smaller motor though i ran a 19turn at the mk gp and it was great made the B final so it cant be that bad

your car look ok to me though mate when you were going round friday but like you said temper got the better of you

One thing im trying to do is not get distracted, i find it difficult to concentrate on my own car for 5 mins, and when i get like that i crash Ive also been trying not to say anything when i crash, unless the marshal doesn't catch the crash.

How about sticking in a totally mad motor for a few weeks, thenwhen you return to a 'normal' motor it'll seem easier

I found when I got hooked on Forza2, PGR4, Grid etc etc etc, my racing deteriorated. I also find racing different classes makes my off-road thumbs deteriorate, im okay with 2wd, 4wd and truck, but add to the mix 12th, 18th, tourers and it takes me a meeting or two with off-road to get back into it....

Don't have a break, motor down, but practice makes perfect. Also, try a negative throttle curve on your tranny at same time. But also go with PMT, (Possitive menthal attitude), don't go off ya tits in a rage - that effects the thumbs too.

Finally, eyesight is a big factor for us all. I do well when I remember to blink, you know when I have forgotten as I come off red faced and teary eyed - usually a bad run too. Outdoors its not so bad, its just hayfever makes me like that anyway.

Its a good point. Faster motor + slower thumbs, get used to that, then motor back down.

just started to rebuild the tc5 and most of the main drive train bearings are shot and the rear diff was way out in setting and position.

Have stuck with ps2 for the time being as I want a ps3 that'll play ps2 games ( wench loves star wars lego )

and the 60 gig ones 2nd hand are rare as rocking horse poo.

they have a honda s2000 on gt3 as well so I can drive my real car on game tracks ( game s2k dosent steer as sharply as real s2k )

I'm not quitting and tbh unless I get stuck in traffic on friday on the way back from the bike show I'll be racing tc at newbury on fri night.

I did have dificulty seing my b44 last fri and hardly used the full punch of the 6.5 apart from the straight but the car seems to be lacking in throttle responce I'll check out the geering diffs etc then check the motor over its a very old 6.5 with a sinterd rotor so may be passed its prime.

I may even stick the sinterd rotor in my 19t equavalient for the next buggy meet on the 21st ( cant make the fri before work partys and a trip to europe )
