![]() So... My local club only does on road racing so my buggy will have to be just for fun for the time being. As you can see from my car history I ran Yokomos back in the day. YR4 and YRF2. So I want to just go on ebay and pickup a YR4 again. However.. While I love the older stuff that I remember as awesome again is it competitive or am I better with something newer? Like a TC3 or 4, 5, don't want to spend more than about 60 2nd hand for just the car and a shell You advice is most welcome |

Yr4s are very troublesome..and the arms are wayy too short. I have tried making it competitive but gave up and sold it. I had better luck with a kawada sv10. I suggest you get a touring car that has floating servo mounts.

Needs a shell but within your budget and still capable of good results, parts still availible ect |

I really enljoyed racing my yr-4 in Japan some years ago. Only thing it really needed was different rear hubs: with toe-in.But to be honest I'm not a good driver and always finished last... just like with any other car in any other category most of the time

Thanks for the advice and auction link. I think I will do my usual. Go with nostalgia ( just bought a YR4 ) then i will strip it, clean, rebuild, spend too much and take it racing to find its not quite enough. But I also haven't driven a touring race for 18 years so actually the car will be the last thing holding me back!

The rear hub carriers that made so much difference for me are 3 racing rear hub carriers for the Tamiya TA05 with 3° toe-in.
Way better stability than with the stock 0° carriers of the YR-4 |
