I love my 5b, its reliable and fast. I love the savage for bashing but the 5b puts a big smile on my face. You need plenty of space to get the best out of it but the handling is spot on. I'm running the 29cc head and tuned pipe which makes it even more fun .

Vroom vroom

Lol, yea I forgot about the hour spent at the Nook in the cold rain trying to get it started. That was my fault tho for not changing the mixture settings for the std exhaust .

One word of warning, the tuned pipe is LOUD, and I mean LOUD.

Great opinion there Lee

I bought one the first day they arrived in the UK,i have been into largescale for over 15 years and the HPi 5b is the best thing out there for the money. It runs for over 45minutes on a 7oOml tankfull of normal unleaded petrol (with a squirt of 2 stroke oil) ,it is very very reliable and will not shake itself to bits like the old FG stuff(i still have FG`s too)

They are good for over 50mph and for something weighing about 10 kilo`s is plenty of oOmph ,they handle great, they jump/fly and land suprbly and will provide plenty of hours of RC FUN if not totally abused.
There are loads of bling and/or hop up parts available from many many manufacturers including HPi `s own brand hopups.
They are competative in standard trim(out of the box) i managed to finish 10th over all at last years BRCA offroad Nationals, securing the clubmans class victory

I love mine to bits.I would recomend trying one,i am sure you will like it

I've never had a 5B but I've had two foray's into 1/5th scale, FG Marder Race (pants, end up spending a fortune replacing most of the damn plastic bits with alloy stuff) & MCD MT. Early 5B's had their issues apparently but the latest one's seem pretty robust and if I was going back to 1/5th it's probably the one I'd go for.
Basically went back to nitro as there wasn't a local club for racing 1/5th, different kind of fun to a buzzy nitro but you've got to love the run times and ease of maintenance, oh and the huge rooster tails you can get with a large scale 2WD.
