on the postal order you might be able to get the money right away or it could take up to 7 days

do not let the bike go till you got the cash in your hand. Tell him he may send the courior to collect the bike when the money is actually cleared into your account. Ask him why he cant use paypal . It sounds too dodgy. ok the £100 postal order is cash straight away making you trust him but you might kiss goodbye to the balance if he cancels the order as it takes a few days to clear. Its only my advice but its your choice. Also check his feedback is he new to ebay. he could be using new accounts to rip people off Ask the post office how long does it take to clear, the courior may just be a few of his mates in a van so you got no company to go after if it goes belly up. can you put the ebay item number here for us to check him out kaniff**** ??????

if the postal order is crossed as they say (has a line going throught the price then it must go to a bank like a cheue and be cleared

do not accept paypal if the person is coming to collect from you,you will have no proof of them receiving the goods from you and they could claim their money back from paypal.

as said above, get the cash in your pocket before letting the bike go.

Hi - postal orders uncrossed can be cashed immediately at the post office. crossed postal orders are treated as a cheque and will take aprox 3-5 days to clear in the bank & are treated as a cheque.
i have had people asking to transfer moneies via western union when selling items before - usually a motor vehicle, they will tell you they are coming to collect the item on a certain date and then ask you for your bank details. don't think money can be transfered in to the post office for individuals. be carefull this is not a very convincing scammer - he may be genuine but in my case they never were!

here is a link to the bike, it may help?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=230307007408

it isnt sounding good is it? i spoke to him on the phone and it seemed ok? but it was only a 535 quid bike so taking back to ireland seems strange?

I will get in touch with him once you guys have checked him out.

as long as you have the cash in hand before he takes the bike it doesnt really matter,we all had low feedback at one point on ebay.

His other purchase was also bike related, so he may be o.k... (don't hold me to it though!)

Usually on ebay an item is available to view for 90 days after sale ends but if you try to view this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=230307007408
you get sfa. Its very easy to set up false feedeback from friends in on the scam, you can also put your location down as anywhere in the world (how many of us have bought an item from london only for it to take 2 weeks to arrive from hong kong) again with the courior they may be just mates with a van, posing as couriors.
follow the general advice cash in hand as your advert says or no deal

DO NOT try a bank transfer, that's the whole point of trying to scam someone is to get them to pass over their bank details, DO NOT touch Western Union.
The only item he has against his feedback is an item where the listing was removed. I would steer clear of this buuyer at all costs unless he turns up with cash as said by others, and then I would check it twice before accepting it as genuine.
The whole thing stinks, sorry to sink your hopes of selling but personally I'd give him a wide berth. Yes we all have to start our feedback somewhere, but not on a 2p item that's listed a withdrawn.

I think there is a period where a postal order can not be found as forged by the bank. I would find that out first and insist on waiting that period before collection.

Looks like he only bid on it and didn't win, goofbay reports 2 bids with a 50% win ratio (btw never seen goofbay before, thanks for the heads up)

Receiving money via western union is safe, the sender (or winner in this case) should give you a transaction number and you can also agree a security question with the winner. You then simply go to the agreed western union depot and give them the transaction and answer to the security question and they will pay you cash. The traditional problem with western union is people insisting on you paying them by this method. Number 1, it is quite expensive to send a western union transfer and number 2, once they have collected payment you have absolutely no comeback if you never receive an item or an item is not as described.

As others have said dont release the bike until you are satisfied you have received the right amount of cash, but dont be suspicious of receiving western union payments, you should not have to give any bank details but I would check western unions site to find a depot/franchise near you as you can then tell the buyer to send payment to the one nearest to you. Also getting a receipt and taking a photo when the couriers arrive are very good tips. If they refuse to write a receipt then dont release the bike of course you should also provide a receipt at this point as proof of payment (dont forget to write sold as seen lol).
