Default Batley Indoor Regional

So whos going, Im looking to go to it for my first indoor regional ever
Who else is going, I heard its a slippy track and that minipins are advised. Considering I spent justunder 90 quid at the aces, im not sure I wanna fork out another 20 for tyres for a single meet.
Anyway, whos going?

it is a fantastic venue and a very good meeting. Its the place to be if you want to see the best. Its very slippy and a few jumps and rubber mats. You have to drive this track. You will enjoy yourself.

£90 on tyres at Aces? Bloody hell - I don't spend £90 a year on tyres! Pins are best for the more dedicated, faster, smoother drivers where spikes work just as well for the not-so-fast driver (thats 4WD). For 2WD pins all day long. Wear is quite good at Batley (because of the slippy) so for most 1 new set will probably last all day

(I know that there will be a few people that dissagree with this, but for those of us that will never make an A final - or probably even a B - I just don't see the point of new tyres nearly every run!)

I think doors open at 8:00?

Col you are spot on. Even the big boys dont replace tyres every run inside.
1 set a day.

NO!, not £90 on tyres, Im not that stupid I spent £90 on stuff I mean so Im skint. I see that your saying pins are best for 2wd but I was saying I cant afford to shell out for a set of pins that will eb solely used for that one day at Batley, will spikes be okay for me as Im expecting to only be around the F final area

HAHAHAAHAHHAH, this thread has made me laugh, everyone thinking the £90 was for tyres.

To spend that in 1 meeting you would have to make pit stops mid run for a tyres change.....now there's a thought! :-)

The tyres we put on new for Batley, will be more than enough for the regional at Teesside where new tyres are not essential.

Your Yellow Minispikes will work very well, don't worry

Sorry, dude! Wayne's right about needing pitstops!!
Spikes will work no probs at Batley. I've run them there myself. There's no getting away from the fact that pins are better because the grip on the carpet in nowhere near the levels of Teeside or Durham, and with surface changes (carpet to slippy, slippy to carpet) the slightly lower grip of spikes might be an advantage for the average driver - not as likely to grip roll when going from slippy to carpet mid corner.

Speaking of average drivers - I'm running spikes on my losi...

Thanks for the reassurances chris
Im also deliberating whether to run my new 12t or my 19 I ran at Teesside. I heard because of Batleys constant surface changes the 12 may be overkill, whats everyone think?

12 should be a good motor to run. Yes in parts there will be slippy surfaces but the track is big. A 19 is too safe

Il be running my 10x2 on Sunday!!

The doors are opening tomorrow morning at 7am but ONLY for anyone willing to help put the track out as we cannot get in tonight to do it. Entry at 8am for people NOT helping with the track!

Thanks

I like pickled onions.

I have 2 jars, but, one of them has some cauliflower & gerkins in it also. They are OK I suppose.

Julie brought me a Jar as a present.
