Thumbs up X11 questions

I'm planning on picking up an x11 08 asap but I've got a couple of queries if anyone can help please.

For spares I'm planning on all wishbones, front and rear hubs, ball joints, drive shaft blades, diff rings and front wing. Is there anything else I should pick up, crown wheels?

I'm exclusively Lipo now I'm just wondering are the trakpowers 3200's are a direct fit? They fitted in my B44 with no issues so I should imagine they will.

I've picked up a futaba 9551 servo and when I spoke to Lewis he said he can supply the relevant fixings for it, but is there anything else I need for the car/to do?

It's been a long time since I ran a pred, hopefully its a bit more reliable than my last.

Thanks all.

Hi mate,

Spares list sounds good; i'd get a crown wheel aswell, just incase.

I can't give any advice on lipos as i haven't tried them yet...Niggs will probably post something about that.

They are very reliable, robust cars.

Enjoy
Andy

Hi,

First of all i think you have made a wise purchase!!!

Have run my X11 08 3 times and the car is awesome!!!!

Depending on how hard you are on the car, will depend what spares you will need....
But for safety:

Wishbones (These are pretty solid)
Balljoints (Weakest part that i have found, and that was head on collision)
Front bumper
Spring tuning kit
Screws (always lose these)
Spur gears
One way shaft
Diff gears (make sure you run them in and add small amount of lube to gear. Then shim them)
X10 Front rockers

Make sure you loctite everything in....
The current setup we are running is the Kev Lee setup.

Not too many major changes..
35wt in the front Yellow Springs
Extra 57 hole drilled

30wt in the rear Red Spring and compensator spring
Extra 57 hole drilled

Front bumper dremmelled down to allow for better landing clearance.
Rear wing mounted as far forward as possible.

With regard lipo you are better off speaking to Nathan Ralls (Niggs98) as he has tested these.
Im sure there will be a Kev Lee setup on here very soon if not already.

Nice one cheers guys. With regard to the x10 rockers, I thought this should be sorted in the 08 version?

as shane says, lipos saddles arnt quite a direct fit, if someone can tell me how to post pics i will show you how to move the posts as its very simple, i have track power 3200's in mine. only other spare i would add to the list is a spur gear, they are fine but i always carry one just in case

after talking to lewis and northy all i did was to move the front post just behind its original mount and then bring the battery strap straight back to allow for the extra lenth of the lipo. i have used my own version of thumbsrew style mount on the front but on the back i have had to use the kit mount due to the proximity to the half height servo, the thumb screw also allows you to clamp the lipo down nice and tight if you want to

i used a standard battery strap double sided on the centre spine to space the lipo away from the propshaft. note that i have had to trim it down slightly to allow room for the hole for the sensor wire on the side shown due to the old ariel mount.

any questions feel free to ask

Bugger I didn't realise they wouldn't fit as standard. Thanks for the photos mate, they help but I've got another coupe of questions.

1. It looks like the rear mounts are the standard ones but the front ones are the tubes the ones used to hold the motor mount?

2. What do you use on the threads to hold the straps down, is it a case of bolting the batteries in every time?

3. Will the standard straps fit once the posts have been moved?

Cheers mate

1. front ones are the alloy tubes off another pred. if you phone lewis at the shop ( 01304 374742 ) he will be able to send them to you.

2. i use a metric thumbscrew or a m3 nyloc nut so yes it needs bolting down each time

3 i use the standard straps on mine so yes they fit lol

4. you can use standard posts in the standard positions and the lipos will fit but it requires a lot of dremmeling on both the posts and the chassis hence me shifting the posts. You can use the standard posts, i just personally prefer to be able to clamp my cells down as tight as possible (personal preferance and not nessesary)

Nice one cheers mate, I'll make sure I order a couple of the tubes when I order the car, which will hopefully be very soon as I'm booked in for worksop and I'm currently without a car!

One last question though, the rocker pivots, are the x10 ones required or is that problem sorted on the 08?

looks very neat on the mounting tom, i assume that you made your own straps tho, although i do like how you got around not having to move your servo, i did mine using as many stock parts as possible so that it makes it easier for peeps to copy at the mo

Thanks, wires are really messy though in the pic (tidy now)

I did make the straps myself, but these are very simple to do (could even use 3mm plastic to cut cost)

Only thing that i had to do was buy some hotbodies servo mounts and make the new straps...

I think i might make some new straps though, some that are a bit thicker and cover more of the battery...

Looking foward to saturday, although i need to get my hands on a low profile servo
