Default trf501x

i just bought a 501x can someone explain the gear chart, ie what gears for what motor do i run havent raced since 1994 been busy building hotrods need to race for stress relief ha ha

The gear chart is just to help you calculate what pinion you need when racing. When you go to a circuit / club most people will run on similar gear ratios.

on a fast circuit it may be 4.5:1 or a small technical circuit it could be 8:1 you can use the chart to quickly find out what pinion you should fit to gear your car to the circuit

yes but wouldnt different pinions effect the over heating of a motor say a motor that is a 11 turn single running a 17 tooth pinion to a 15 turn double running 17 tooth pinion ,whats the deal with over gearing im still learning here

The guys will be running a motor / ratio that works for them, so the best rule of thumb is to copy theirs. Obviously if you want to do it yourself, just run your car on the circuit, you should be full speed 2/3 of the way down the longest straight.

So gear up or down to achieve that
