Default New car time

I'm on the hunt for a new car and i think the Pred x11 fits the bill.
Just a couple of questions.

1, what hops ups if any do i need

2, what are parts availability like delivery times etc

3. breakages what goes in a crash/wears out

4. do they drive differently to a run of the mill ie carbon deck buggy

thanks in advance steve

Hi Steve,

I've only just been running mine for a few weeks but i am very impressed. They are seriously strong now, only thing i've broken have been a couple of balljoints in heavy impacts. They seem to brake instead of the wishbone which makes it cheap and easy to change.

1, I'm running the 08 version (big bore shocks) and its standard. Comes with ceramic balls, graphite chassis/wisbones and is seriously well put together.

2, Lewis and Yanina are very helpful and dedicated to getting bits to you so i don't think you'll have any grumbles as far as support goes.

3, As i said above, only broken balljoints really.. Because the shocks etc are all inboard theres no bits sticking out waiting to be ripped off when you put it on its roof. Its probably worth holding, wisbones, hubs, driveshaft blades, balljoints and spur gears as spares to start with.

As far as bits wearing out, i've only used it for 4 meetings and the only thing that shows signs of wear are the blades which are there to save the lightweight outdrives, so its worth keeping some of them in.

4, They stay very flat compared to most other buggies, but i would say you won't find a massive difference except for the fact they feel very precise. I really like the car and with the amount of effort the team is putting in for next year it should be good!

Hope that helps, but thats my limited experience... some people who have run the car for longer may be able to add to it.

Shane, those are what Kev refers too as "blades".
If you are not getting an '08 car then you will need the X10 rocker posts, Lunsford M4 turnbuckles and Big Bore shocks to round off the already awesome package.

I recommend to carry, as Kev said, wishbones, front hubs, ball joints, driveshaft buds/blades, spur gear and one diff gear just incase until you find your feet with the car and discover what, if anything, you find to be weak.

You won't be disappointed with the pred, I have been driving one forwhat around 6months now and my 4wd results have got better and better.
Give Lewis and Yanina a ring at the shop, they're always very helpful in advising and helping you with what ever you need.

any questions.. just ask

yep, think everyone has covered the essential items, wishbones, front hubs, ball joints, spur gear, driveshaft buds, maybe some rear hubs too...

they are releasing 2 new cars soon, the X11 08, and the X11 rs, it might be worth waiting for them? phone lewis/yanina, im sure they'll do everything they can to help

questions, just ask

Tom

The 08 car is pretty much just a standard x11 but with the upgrades/developments we have done over this years racing.

From the worksop race report...

The '08 car is intended to represent all the advancements made during the 2008 race season and will come with the new 'big bore' shock absorbers and other parts. The 'RS' car will be a replica of the X11 - but with things like the alloy hinge pin blocks done as moulded plastic composites instead of metal to create a more affordable version of the original.

Unsure of a release date yet, best thing to phone/email Yanina and Lewis and ask them direct

hope that helps

Tom

the x11-08 is available as we speak from xtreme on 01304 374742, the rs version is curently in development although bits are already being tested by the team for the car. as stated the 08 car is a development of what the team have ended up with over the 08 season so buy with confidence, any questions you have im sure one of the team or yannina/lewis at xtreme will be able to help you with
