Default 48dp?

Are Kyosho spurs and pinions meant to be 48dp?

I've just built my new ZX-5 FS and it came with a 17T Kyosho pinion, but it's quite a bit smaller in diameter that my 17T Schumacher 48dp pinions?? It has straighter, less rounded, slimmer teeth somehow. The Schumacher pinions roll around the Kyosho spur ok, but sound a little louder when fitted to a motor and spun by hand (no esc fitted yet). I was going to fit a 21T to my 7.5T motor.

I've searched the part numbers for the supplied pinion and spur and they come up as 48P, not dp??

Very strange..........

Absolutely ... as Stu said I think the culprit could be the pinion!
