Default RC10 6 gear rockcrusher mod

Has anyone actually done the mod where a pair of outdrive gears with the cups dremeled off are used to replace the nylon idler gears?

I've got an extra set of worn outdrives, and have quasi test fitted them on the idler shafts it to see if they all line up okay. So far so good...

Any considerations I should know about? Would the steel/steel gear mesh be a wear and/or friction disaster? How should it be lubricated?

I'd imagine it'd be pretty close to indestructible though...

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated, thanks.
