Hi everyone, I have a Speed Passion GT 2.0 LPF and was wondering if I could run it with a 5.5t motor in a touring car with timing advance, turbo etc without blowing the speedo up.
I know it says in the manual that it can handle down to a 5.5 with 6 cell/2S but I'm not sure if this is meant for a different car e.g a 2WD buggy or if it's only supposed to be ran with zero timing. |

Looking at the manual its down to 6.5t on 2s LIPO. Motor limit is a guideline, speedo will take 80a continuously so I would say a 5.5t with advanced timing and boost will probably draw too much current for esc to comfortably handle. If you had the pro model however, id say no problem.
Incidentally, a boosted 5.5 in tc will absolutely fly!!!

not quite - lipos operate at a slightly higher voltage and are able to deliver higher currents, hence why cars always perform better using lipos.

I've just looked at the manual again, is it definitely the std LPF and not the pro? as Col said above, I think you can advance the timing on the LPF but only the pro has boost.
If it is the pro you have, boost will not be a problem since they have a 200A limit

Hi again, I forgot to say, it has updated software which allows it to have more settings and I'm nearly sure boost is one of them. Rather than having the standard 10 settings, it has the same as the reventon pro.

Ah ok. Im no expert on the new SP firmware - I did own a GT2 pro with a 6.5T and never had a problem.
If boost has been added, I would be reluctant to use it with a 5.5t. This motor in un boosted form will be at the limit of your esc, so running boost will either burn it out or cause the thermal protection to kick in.

5.5 with boost is beyond the recommended for the LPF (60A). Without boost is might be OK but 8.5T is the recommended limit for off-road without boost.

Is it the hobbywing xerun 60A because it says it can handle a 5.5 on 2S with on-road.

Sorry, I assumed you were running off-road. 5.5 limit is for no boost, they suggest 8.5 for boost for the Xtreme stock (which is the same basic ESC in a smaller case).

Oh sorry I maybe didn't make it clear I would be running on-road, could I run timing with a 5.5 but no boost?

What do you mean by timing? If you mean an ESC setting on the boost software then it is the same thing.
