Default Which ESC Motor Combo?

Help Please

Running a Losi Mini 8ight and really going well, but I have an issue where the back end of the motor keeps poping out which then strips the spur gear .

Looking to buy a good ESC Motor combo and looking for recommendations.

I do have an hobbywing 35amp esc spare, should I just buy a motor to go with it?

When buying motors or ESC's how do you work out which motor for which ESC.

Finnaly is the a remedy for the motor mounting plate moving in the event of a bang or bump?

Loads of questions and any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

The kit motor is 1 of the best, they do do faster versions but I found the kit motor with an RW pinion 1 tooth bigger than kit, Ezrun 60a on I think 18 deg timing plenty fast enough.
The Spur gear issue can be caused by a crash but also some of the Losi ones aren't round so they strip quickly anyway. You really have to clamp down the screws which isn't easy with the access.

As above, you cant fault the hobbywing 35 or 60 and losi or carisma 4500kv motor
the 24mm motor doesn't get so hot so it doesn't break down the glue holding it together.. if you can get a RW spur AND pinion you'll be surprised how quieter it becomes, the kit ones are a more brittle plastic and egg shaped
with the mount make sure the shakeproof washers are nearest the bolt head then a plain washer nearest the mount

Default Reedy combo

Thanks for the pointers.

I bought a Reedy esc motor combo last week but when I tried to fit it there is a boss on the front end of the motor which doesn't allow the motor to fit into the stock motor mount. Is there a modification plate for this or is it just a case of dremmeling the motor mount to suit?

Or should I just return it and stick to the stock or hobbywing?

Any pointers where i can get the RW spur gear?

Thanks again

you would have to dremel but return it if you can, about 90% plus of the national racers use hobbywing esc with the stock motor including A finalists
Neil at RW will sell direct through paypal give him a ring or e-mail

Default Thanks For the Tips

Thanks to all for your comments and advise. I have sent the reedy combo back and going for carisma motors as I have been told they are a bit more sturdy than the Losi ones, and a little bit cheaper
Going with the hobbywing esc.

Thanks again
