Default Spektrum fail safe issue

Hi guys, wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or has any suggestions?

I recently changed from my KO module in my Espirit III to a SPektrum module. Initially couldn't get the fail safe to work right when binding the receiver, everytime i switched the car on the wheels would spin up almost on full throttle. I solved this by binding the receiver without my transponder plugged in.

Anyway, i thought that was all fine but i have just changed from an LRP SXX TC to an LRP Flow and have encountered a similar problem.

When i first turn the car on the wheels spin for about 1.5 seconds, however it's only like a 5% throttle so they spin very slowly. If you turn the car off straight after and turn it back on they don't spin up the 2nd time. Also if you turn the tranny and car on and ocne the wheels have spun up, if you turn the transmitter off, the car stays still, so the fail safe appears to be working correctly.

Can anybody figure out why the wheels are spinning up?

All the usual things i've checked, trim at neutral when binding etc, have tried rebinding several times. The only thing that has changed is my speedo.

Would appreciate any answers.

Calibrate speedo to tx then rebind your tx/RX with throttle in neutral

You need to retry in the order I have said.

If you've changed the speedo, make sure there aren't any little bits of wire bridging terminals.......... Can cause some odd behaviour. Not that I've ever done it, *coff coff*

Tried that out of curiosity, still the same. What's weird is, if you sit and turn the car on and off, sometimes the motor will spin up, sometimes it won't and when it does, it's not always at the same speed.

If you turn the transmitter on and off while the car is on, 3/10 the motor will spin up, the rest it won't.

It's an extremely odd problem, i can film and upload to youtube if it's any help?

Can someone clarify as i've tried both ways of binding. Bind plug into receiver, car on and receiver flashes fast. Then turn transmitter on holding the bind button. Now i've tried letting the button go and letting it bind. I've also tried as per Spektrum manual keeping the button held. Both ways it binds but with the same outcome.

I'm kinda stumped on this.

List your binding procedure

you are using the plug?

I've had this with every new LRP used with a Spektrum module... all you have to do is reset the failsafe but can't understand how you are getting it wrong?!

My Spektrum was 2nd hand, no manual so i was told the setup procedure, unsure if correct, here is my way as above.

Everything off, bind plug into slot marked B on receiver, turn car on and light flashes rapidly.

Turn transmitter on with bind button held in, let go off button when it's flashing rapidly, it sits for a couple of seconds then binds.

I've tried turning car off first, then transmitter. I've tried other way round.

I've also tried while binding, holding the bind button pressed on the transmitter until it binds to car.

I had no issue like this with my LRP SXX TC and Spektrum.

turn on receiver with plug in, wait until it flashes then pull bind plug out

then hold bind button on tx and turn it on, wait till it flashes then let go of button and let it bind

turn both off and then turn on, problem should be sorted and you can calibrate speedo... make sure you set throttle/brake epa to maximum with LRP speedo's.

let us know how you get on

Hey allan I have the same problem when I fitted my new ko kiy running with a track And field speedo . I guess it's a radio issue of some sort , doesn't really bother me I just make sure I turn the car on second and of 1st .

When you bind the transmitter & receiver, hold the brake on your transmitter. This means that when the failsafe kicks in, your speedo will go into full brake.

Tried it no joy. Checked my KO and i always have throttle and brake set to 100 instead of 150. Changed to 150 but still the exact same.

After trying the above stuff, i'm going to put this down to a disagreement between my Flow and Spektrum as there was no issue with the SXX TC.

It's not the worst problem ever, just irritating.

That's the worst way to set a fail safe for a race car. Last thing any racer needs is a car just hitting full brakes in front of then, set it to neutral and it will coast to a stop

I have had a similar problem although not spectrum .I fitted a new orca speedo to my sons car and it had all the same problems as you have, fortunately when we tried my daughters radio a Sanwa mx3' and my radio Sanwa m11 there was no problem and then when I tried my sons again a Sanwa mx3 his still had all the problems that you have.
Try another rx / tx just to eliminate the speedo having problems ( and to clear your head).
Hope this helps!!

For anyone that's interested, i solved the problem by upgrading my LRP FLOW firmware.
