Afternoon
Completely new to micro. Always raced nitro or 1/10. Reading up and there isn't a main view on what is a good all round esc, motor, servo and lipo to use in the GTB. Is the standard Carisma motor acceptable or is there better value out there. Not interested in the cheapest but value for money reasonable quality. Any help will be good. Thanks in advance James |

Have you got a car etc? I've got a fully hopped up gtb that has only done the Hereford national that I'm contemplating selling.

If you are new to micro you might want to consider the 4500kv carisma motor. I only break out the 5700 for the longer national tracks. At my home club the 4500 actually gets me the quicker fastest lap. From memory the 4500 is half the price of the 5700 as its the stock mass produced motor.

I think it is worth while getting a decent servo from day one as it should last for ever. Speedo wise i'd go for the hobbywing 35A as this will do you fine. Andy |

Right
Have now got all electrics in front of me. It looks like it we be a tight fit. I have the hobby wing , savox with thumbs design mounts and carisma motor. Any top tips on best way of mounting. I assume you solder direct from motor to esc. The leads that come attached are really long. I am a little worried about the servo mounts because they are only held to chassis with one screw. Am I missing something or is this ok. Any tips would be greatly accepted James |

Cheers.
Just had a look at this thread and the esc must be an older version. Where they have the esc going under the top plate there is a capacitor on mine. Also there is a fan that isn't pictured anywhere. I would post a picture but not sure how to. Thanks |

Hi
they all come with a fan, you just take it off, the esc in the picture on the micro forum is the 60 amp ,were the cap is separate, the 35amp cap is in the heat sink if you look closely at the picture he has cut the heat sink with a dremel so part is under the top deck, someone with a 35amp may be able to show you a picture of how they fitted there's i`m not sure but maybe the cap will just go under the top deck once you dremeled it down a bit or fit it sideways on I also know 2 people that run the 60 amp with no cap at all with no problems

yeah, the 35 amp needs a square cutting from the heatsink, its really easy to do with a dremel and cutting tool. a few guys use the heatsink of a 25amp speedo as it fits straight on. I would post a picture of mine, but once its installed you cant see much with all the other wiring.
I think most keep the motor wires as is, with the bullet connectors so they can swap motors pretty easily, its not bad if you run them through the top deck. (motor wires from esc on belt side of speedo through top deck) I have not used Craig's (thumbs design) servo mounts, but he wouldn't sell them if they were not perfect. I use quite a few of his mods, and am pleased with them all. |

I've got the 60amp in mine and it still has the fan on top and heatsink has not had any cut off it, and I use a bigger servo than most at our club,
I use the futaba 9650 servo and the ezrun 60amp esc and the 4500kv motor from the mini 8ight. ![]() ![]()

Guys
Thanks for all you help. I have now got it all in. Cut off the corner of the heat sink, on a very slight angle and the capacitor just misses top deck. I had already desoldered off the esc motor wires so soldered this direct to motor wires which looks quite neat. Will only be running indoors for now so shouldn't have to change motor too often but wished I had left alone. Live and learn!! All I need to do now is change the connector on the esc or battery as they are different. Sod's law. Does it matter which I keep any one better. The battery's are turnigy 2200's. Both seem to have extremely chunky connectors! Once again thanks. Hopefully will race Wednesday James |

deans connector is the most common and reliable, as Ron's in the picture above
