First race of the Belgian SCT Cup 2013 has been held on BRTC track this Sunday May 5th. The layout of the track has been changed for this year and is now faster than before while still being challenging and offering very low grip. Number of entries is progressing compared to last year, with the participation of some fast buggy 1/10 racers and most importantly, young newcomers! We also had the pleasure to welcome a French driver coming all the way from Paris, Philippe Hautecoeur.
The day started under the sun with pastries and coffee available on site. In 2WD qualification, tire choice proved to be pretty complex with drivers changing them at each run in search of the best compromise. Martin Vierin put in the fastest run of the first run on his SC10 in front of Nicolas Evens (TLR 22SCT), Jean-François Renard (TLR 22SCT), Philippe Hautecoeur (SC10) and Julian André (SC10). Second run saw Nicolas take the advantage ahead of Jean-François, Philippe and Martin. Last run was decisive for the pole position attribution with Martin and Nicolas with a win each. Nicolas took that leg in front of Martin, Cédric Van De Ginste (SC10) and Jean-François. 2WD A-Main grid:

2013 Race 2 @ RCEL
Second race of the season was held last Sunday on the famous “Beach” track of the RC Electro Liège club. A great technical layout makes this track one of the best in Belgium. Rythm is very important to get a good pace over here. Along the day, a sort of slippy blue groove appeared on the racing line, was kind of funny. The club welcomed us very well as every time and organized everything smoothly in a friendly atmosphere. ![]() Race date was a bit conflicting with exam dates for the youngest racers causing some newcomers to skip on this one, let’s hope they come back for July race in Merchtem. In 2WD qualification, Martin Vierin took the TQ quite easily on his wonderfully suspended SC10, running very smoothly. Nicolas Evens (TLR 22SCT), Jean-François Renard (TLR 22SCT) and Philippe Hautecoeur (SC10) followed in that order while Nicolas Graffeo (SC10) improved a lot on his B final win of the first race to take the fifth spot on the grid. 2WD A-Main gridIn 4WD Raphael Robert (Hong Nor) took the TQ in front of Matthieu Carpin (Tekno SCT410) and Nicolas Evens (TLR SCTE), with a very close pace between those drivers. Thierry Mathieu (TLR SCTE) and Philip De Keersmaecker (Durango) completed the top 5. 4WD A-Main gridFilip De Keersmaecker (Durango) dominated the 2WD B final by winning all 3 legs with a big margin over Ronald Dupont (SC10) and David De Meyer (TLR 22SCT). ![]() In the A main, Martin Vierin wins the leg 1 in front of Nicolas Evens and Philippe Hautecoeur in third. Nicolas Evens wins leg 2 in front of Jean-François Renard and Philippe Hautecoeur. Leg 3 is taken by Jean-François Renard in front of Martin Vierin and Philippe Hautecoeur. At the end of the day, the top 3 drivers were all counting a win and a second place as best results, and the winner was determined by the best time of each of them, giving Martin a well deserved win. Mr Regularity, Philippe Hautecoeur, despite 3 third places couldn’t make the podium, and Jean-François Glineur completed the top 5. 2WD Final ![]() In the 4WD final, Raphaël Robert (Hong Nor) succeeded to convert his TQ into wins in the first 2 legs, giving him the overall win before last leg. Matthieu Carpin finished second in those legs and won the last one on his brand new Tekno SCT410. Thierry Mathieu (TLR TEN-SCTE) and Philip De Keersmaecker (Durango DESC410R) competed for the fourth spot with Thierry taking the advantage. 4WD Final ![]() VRC adaptors and offroad packs are now in possession of Matthieu Carpin, Philip De Keersmaecker and Jean-François Renard. Another opportunity for them to get even better by practicing without breaking or wearing anything, anytime of the year! ![]() Thanks to our sponsors, Horizon, TLR, Proline, Avid, VRC Pro, TecRace, Hudy, LRP and MCM Racing for supporting us and providing the gifts that some us of took home today after the draw. 1 pair of Proline Blockade SC M4 Tires (1183-03) for Ronald Dupont 1 Avid SC10 clamping 12mm hex front (AV1001-FR) for Nicolas Graffeo 1 pair of Proline Blockade SC M4 Tires (1183-03) for Edouard-Benoît Michez 1 Hudy pit towel large (209073) for Jean-François Glineur 1 set of Proline V3 SC Closed cell Foam inserts (6615-07) for Philip De Keersmaecker Thanks to Jean-François Glineur and Laurent Dutrieux for helping out for the pictures, and everybody that helped me out during the event. |

In a great mix of zen attitude, firmness and professionalism, the crew of BPT Merchtem hosted the first race of the year to be run on astroturf. Track is located in a sport complex and features a challenging layout, with a quite bumpy surface, fast corners as well as big air jumps. The grip fluctuated a lot during the day, starting by being very low due to morning dew and being high once the generous sun dried it out before first qualification heat. It’s been good to see quite lot of new faces attending the Cup!
![]() In 2WD qualification, Jean-François Renard (TLR 22SCT) and Nicolas Evens (TLR 22SCT) battled for pole position, both being in quite faster pace than the rest of the pack. In the end Nicolas got the TQ in front of Jean-François with Filip De Keersmaecker (Durango) taking third place on the grid. 2WD A-Main gridIn 4WD, Kurt Vanvlemen and David Pauwels, both new to the category and their cars (brand new Tekno SCT410 for both), battled for TQ with David coming up in first. 4WD A-Main grid2WD B final was dominated by Geoffrey Ilijas (Losi XXX-SCT) who won 2 finals out of 3 with a lap margin. Thomas Lété (Associated SC10) won the opening leg of the finals and ended up second. The A final was a good battle between Jean-François Renard (TLR 22SCT) and Nicolas Evens (TLR 22SCT), with close and clean racing, one lap ahead of the rest of the field. Jean-François took the first 2 legs and wins his first race of the SCT Cup after being on every podium this year. Philippe De Keersmaecker completes the podium and comes back in good form after his B final win in Liège. At only 13 years, Julian André finishes fifth of this race after begin real close from Philippe in 2 of the final legs, kuddos! 2WD A-Main results ![]() In 4WD B final, Dieter Hoevelinck outpaced everybody and took a confortable win in front of Christophe Leurquin (TLR SCTE). A final was more open with each driver on the podium taking a win. David Pauwel and Kurt Vanvlemen were the quickest on the track but some mistakes here and there kept the race interesting until final leg. David put in the fastest time of the finals during leg 3 ensuring him the overall win, followed by Kurt and Nicolas Evens (TLR SCTE). 4WD A-Main results ![]() VRC adaptors and 3 months “All inclusive” subscriptions have been offered to David Pauwels and Edouard-Benoît Michez as best ranked drivers in 4WD and 2WD while Elisa André won hers with a draw. All of them were very happy with the gift and will surely enjoy it a lot! Last race of 2013 is run on the astroturf indoor Blackcountry Arena track in Charleroi. Well known host of the Euro Indoor Race, the club is used to organise flawless events in his great facility. This year’s track layout is both fast and technical, requiring a good rythm in order to be fast.
Jean-François Renard (TLR 22SCT) shows his good form by taking the first qualification round in 2WD ahead of Nicolas Evens (TLR 22SCT) and Philippe Gustin (Associated SC10). Top 2 order is inverted for second round while Julian André (Associated SC10) takes the third spot. Jean-François takes the latest round, followed by Edouard-Benoît Michez (Associated SC10) and Julian André. With his 2 wins, Jean-François is TQ and takes the extra point that goes with it. Nicolas and Edouard-Benoît complete the Top 3 on the A main grid. B main sees Nicolas Gandibleu (Associated SC10) confirming is BQ and winning legs 1 and 3. Ronald Dupont (Associated SC10) takes the second. Stéphane Lecomte (Associated SC10) ends up third with same number of points than Ronald. In A main, Nicolas Evens takes the first 2 legs in front of Jean-François Renard. Once again their pace is similar but Jean-François experiences some bad luck when lapping slower cars. Coming back from 7th on the grid, with a second and a third finishes, Tom Pierard (TLR 22SCT) gets the last step on the podium and ensures a TLR sweep. Edouard-Benoît ends up fourth and first of the rear motor cars. ![]() 2WD A MainIn 4WD, Raphaël Robert (Hong Nor Nexx10 2.0) wins first 2 qualifications and gets himself into pole position for the main. Matthieu Carpin (TeknoRC SCT410) follows in second in those legs and wins the last one as Raphaël can’t race it. Nicolas Evens (TLR Ten-SCTE) and Thierry Mathieu (TLR Ten-SCTE) battle for third spot on the grid and Nicolas takes it by being second in third leg. Unfortunately for Raphaël, he’s suffering from electronic issues in all the main legs and is not able to convert his TQ into a win. Thierry is driving fast and consistent and takes the first leg win, closely followed by Matthieu and Nicolas a bit further. Matthieu wins the second leg this time under Nicolas’s pressure and Thierry a bit further. Final leg is decisive for the overall win and the three drivers stay very close to each other, separated by less than 2 seconds and the end of the race. Matthieu experienced a lapping incident and Nicolas takes the win ahead of Thierry and Matthieu. The 3 drivers counting a leg win and a second place each, overall win is attributed on best time. As a consequence, Matthieu is declared winner, followed by Nicolas and Thierry. ![]() 4WD A FinalRace’s prize ceremony saw the usual draw where the sponsors gifts are offered to the racers. 1 VRC Pro USB adaptor + SCT extension pack for Nicolas Gandibleu 1 VRC Pro USB adaptor + SCT extension pack for Fabian Jouret 1 VRC Pro USB adaptor + SCT extension pack for Tom Pierard 1 pair of Proline Tazer SC M3 Tires (1185-02) for Jeremy Catherine 1 Avid SC10 clamping 12mm hex front (AV1001-FR) for Gérard Saintenoy 1 set of Proline V3 SC Closed cell Foam inserts (6615-07) for Ronald Dupont 1 pair of Proline Tazer SC M3 Tires (1185-02) for Tristan Gillard 1 TecPower TP350 charger for Jean-François Glineur As this race closes the 2013 season, global ranking is final and we have our 2013 champions. 2WD Top 6 ![]() 4WD Top 6 ![]() Another draw is done for all the drivers who entered 4 of our 6 races in 2013.
