Hello hoping for some help I have a iwata airbrush for a little while now and never really had a lot of consistancy from it, a appreciate paint thickness has a lot to do with successful airbrushing, but every time I use it there seems to another issues. I am getting Back pressure into the paint cup now .I have already replaced the nozzle, and when airbrushing I am getting a lot of splatter. any help I would much appreciate should I be looking for another brush or replace parts on this thanks John

Hey,
Sounds to me like you may have got a paint blockage, I wouldn't replace anything but I would recommend getting some auto air airbrush restorer and also some cleaner, this way you can give your brush a good clean and start a fresh. Once you have got it clean (if it isnt already) I suggest reducing the paint a little more (autoair reducer is pretty good and RCS sell some stuff Ive heard good things about) and give it another good. Set psi to about 25 and keep reducing until you have a nice fine spray that your happy with. It really does take some practice to get this right. Hope this helps. |

Hey John, I can't really say anything that UPD above hasn't already said.
I'd start by stripping the whole airbrush down, do this over an old white towel or T shirt, that way when you drop the tiny nozzle it will stay on the white rather than bouncing onto the garage floor... Make sure everything is clear by looking through it. Make sure you've either got a manual or have downloaded the exploded parts list from airbrushes dot com Check all of your seals are in place and intact ! This can cause blow backs with bubbles in your paint cup. To start with I would mix the paint about 2:1 which should give you a good consistency and maybe have the pressure up to 35-40 psi, a little higher than suggested above and then reduce down from there. With a 0.5mm nozzle you shouldn't really have any problem spraying it. Hope it works out, post up what happens on here, it will be useful for other painters that suffer from any similar problems. |
