Question Rally/Touring Car chassis

Hiya,

I'm after some advice on a chassis for some light off road and general tarmac running/bashing. Leaning towards a TT01E because they are so cheap, lots of spare parts and hop ups, etc.

I'm not an RC fanatic even though I own a shed load of 'em, but I've never had a 'normal' car with covered wheels, wing mirrors, headlights, etc. before. lmao. They've all been monster trucks or buggies with limited or no options for changing appearance. I now want something I can totally pimp out one shell and one set of wheels, then rally or bash with another body and wheel set. Damn, I might even have a go at that new fandangle craze kids call 'Drifting'

I can't stretch budget to a VX01... and even though the M05 is appealing because well, everyone loves superminis, too many parts are needed just to get a decent runner.

Motor and electrics I'll rip out of my B3 (Mtronics ESC and Firebolt 15T motor). Not looking for masses of power, just want to have some fun.

LED lights, light buckets, etc. are a must. I do all my driving at night. Tamiya charge a bomb as separates, and many shops seem to take the Light kits out for some reason :s I'd do DIY lights, but I'm too lazy to research what parts I'd need, where to buy them, etc. lol.

So yeah, dribble aside, what chassis kit, what hop ups, where to buy, etc. if you would be so kind as to share any thoughts or opinions

Many thanks

Hi, maybe you could consider the new tt-02. over the old tt-01.

Look at this, theres a review by this user:

It Looks like they improved the whole car, plus you can adjust the ride hight to make it more suitable for Rally and the not-so- clean parking lot.

I'll take a look, but it comes with friction shocks and a lousy body. Hope more stuff comes out soon...

I have an Associated TC3 Rally sitting on the shelf in my shed next to an HPI Rally car - basically TC chassis' with purpose designed and built rally suspension at 200mm width that were popular in the 1990s.

As they are based on sorted TC cars they were really good fun to drive, tough, and easy to set up. The TC3 was set soft so when you push it hard on a grippy surface it rolls around looking really rally-like! With some TC springs and a bit of lowering it could be a tarmac car too, but the 'gravel' set-up was great and can easily handle light off road and tarmac bashing.

If either of them are of interest it would be good to give them a home that will use them rather than gathering dust in a shed. PM me if you are interested.

The TT01/02 don't really have the suspension travel you would need, TA01/02 were sold as rally cars/ trucks/ Tourers, I put buggy wheels and a bowler wildcat shell on a TT01 it looked good but handled awful, a guy at our club did the same with a TA01 and it was far superior off road

I have a TA02 that's being worked on amongst other projects I think that might work ok for a bit of a laugh, as its based on a buggy desgin firstly I'm sure I can make it work. Or I'll have to get a VX01 pro ( will need the boss to ok that first).

Thanks guys, lots of ideas for me to look in to.

Not looked at the TA01/02, or any others for that matter really. So yeah, time for some research

Thanks again.
