Wanted Outdoor Grass Racing

After returning to the hobby after a break of 20years, I am looking to find somewhere in the north west that races outdoors on grass. I'm just not into the artificial surfaces, I might as well race indoors all the time if AstroTurf is the only other option.

Any help with finding a grass track would be great.

The Barrow club in Barrow in Furness race on grass if that can be classed as a North West track? Grass tracks are hard to come by these days, the weather just isn't good enough over here for grass to be consistent with the the changing weather week to week.

Bury Metro and Southport fall within the North West region but race on astro. give either club a try, Im sure you will change your mind on astro soon enough.

Thanks Chris - I will be having a go at Bury in the near future ( they used to run on the grass at the side of the main track 20yrs ago, when there was a big event due - but dont seem to do that anymore)

As a ex bolton buggy club member outdoors on grass is something I want to do again.

I heard that barrow only run the grass for regionals?

We are hoping to secure it as a permanent venue in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed for us to have a permanent outdoor home

It would be worth noting we race regularly at south lakes as they run a grass track.

Me and Callum have raced at Southport and Bury and they are by far superior buggy tracks to what we currently run on, they're both well worth a visit.

Both good tracks with lots of features, Southport has slightly more variety in surface as they have concrete parts and cobbles which make it bit interesting

Not quite north west, but Batley Buggy club run a 50/50 grass and astro track. The astro is also not the deep high grip type so makes for some hairy tail out cornering at times.

Bout a 30 min drive from Bury.

Batley runs pretty much every Sunday with people arriving around 10 to set up track.
I love racing there, half the track has permenant features and the rest is designed on the day. Features include a table top, double high speed jump, A banked sweeper at the end of the straight, A concrete corner, and various smaller (and sometimes tricky) bumps and jumps. Half the track is on grass which is cut nice and short on the morning of race days.
As I said earlier the astro is fairly old and very short, so its not incredibly grippy, something I prefer myself.

This week we got 5 rounds and the final in. Have a ride up on Sunday everyone is very welcoming.

Batley also has a sub forum under clubs

You cant go wrong with yellow mini spikes. Green BB's if its a bit damp/wet.

Tends to finish around 4pm. It's a real good day, I got a nice tan this week too
