Default Flashing red ESC light

Hi All,

I have posted this in the Durango forum but thought I may try the electrics section as well, as maybe more suited to here.

Need a bit of advise as a little new to all this. I have brought the Durango 210 RTR and have changed the controller to a Stick set Tamco 330 (the one supplied in the box didn't work but that's another story).

I have bound the Transmitter to the car and it works in terms of movement. The only thing is the red light on the ESC continues to flash. Reading in the manual a flashing red light is low drive battery voltage.

However, this was the case even when a fully charged battery was connected. When trying things I noted the light does not flash when only the car is on! Yet as soon as the transmitter is in the light flashes again.

Any idea as a little lost. Not sure if there are steps I should take to stop this or if performance is effected?

Any help would be appreciated.

An ESC normally needs to be calibrated to a transmitter, and seeing as you've changed transmitter I'm guessing this is the problem. Most are easy to do, check your manual for the esc if you have one, if not find one on the net. Usually simple to do. What esc is it as a matter of interest.

Hi Ian,

Its a Speed Passion Cirtix Stock Club race. Its already installed as part of the RTR box set. The instruction aren't very comprehensive.

I redone the throttle setup and the only other thing I can see in the manual is the ESC tuning relating to break and overheat protection.

There is not much else listed at all. Like you say it may be because its factory set and I may need to change this but not entirely sure how?

If you've done the throttle calibration then I'm guessing your esc is in "blinky" mode. Which is used for certain classes. Basically means there is no timing advance set. You may want to change the software to get away from blinky mode. If you are new to RC racing then blinky mode will probably do you for a while.

Hi Ian,

When you say no 'timing advanced' set what does this refer to and how would I do this? the ESC does not have a programme card with it as is set purely on depressing a set button and changing on the beeps.

The transmitter is programmable however with throttle curves and the like. At the moment all of these are as per the standard. Can I do anything on here?

Just checking really that all is ok as soon want to go to the local track and give a race meeting a go.

Thanks for the advise.

I had this with my rtr 210 after changing to a Core Code set of sticks. The helpful chaps at my club had a bit of head scratching over it but sorted it in the end. Mattybucks on here may be of assistance.
