How tight is the gearbox? I find my electrics get hotter (not dangerously hot, just another 5-10 degrees) If I clamp the three main screws down too tight. Just half a turn allows it to spin much more smoothly.

And how hot are they 70? 80? 90? Thermal shut off?
I get up to 65-75 ish. That gives me another 20 degrees before the cut off.

How long are you running?
Do you have any timing?
What electrics are you running?

http://www.petitrc.com/setup/durango...210_GearChart/

Your in the ball park there maybe drop a tooth

What are your settings on the esc?
Ask in the tekin thread as well, or have a look on their site for setups.

http://www.petitrc.com/reglages/teki...tsTekinRS.html

Although there aren't many astro setups there

Holes for airflow?
Is it running smooth without the pinion on?
Check the gearbox so its running smooth. I can recommend shims by the motor plate and don't hulk it with the screws

I wouldn't worry then. According to "the Internet" the thermal cut off on that speedo is over 100 deg C. Even allowing for tolerances, bad measurements, cooling down and so on, you are no way near that!

Did you look at the charts?

Approx so try and test temps
6.5T-10
7.5T-9.5
8.5T-9

If you are still getting heat issues then you are going to have to recheck the gearbox and pinion mesh.
Did you ask in the tekin thread for setups?
PM Randy Pike on here or on RCTech

If it helps at all i run 23\83 (9.38 FDR)on a 7.5 x20 with a Tekin RS, it gets hot... not sure in degrees but too hot to run an 81 spur imo
Ran indoors on high grip carpet in a 6min final, and outside on high grip Astro (6min finals) and its been fine

Are you running the RS Pro in dual or sensored mode?

I find sensored tends to run quite a bit hotter than dual. If you are in this mode then check the timing on your motor endbell (factory settings on Tekin are usually 10-12 degrees. I don't have any experience with Vampire motors) then set your Boost setting using the hotwire facility to give an overall setting of around 30 degrees (e.g. 12 on the motor + 18 Boost = 30 degrees) this should run quite cool. Test this out then increase Boost until you reach a comfortable heat after 5 min runs (I aim for three lights flashing on my ESC and 68C/155F on my motor)

Lee you won't stop your car getting hot at Silverstone, the tracks are too aggressive for that. Your gearing seems about right so as long as you car doesn't thermal don't worry, if it does thermal you need to go down the route of cutting vents in the shell, and adding heatsinks/fans.

You could shoe goo a fan behind the esc so it blows on the solder points or I think viper does a fan holder for their fan less esc
