Default TM2 at Holbeach E of E regional

Bank holiday Monday and a chilli start to the day with a cold wind but at least it was dry.

The starting set up for the car was the one I ended on, this is how I like a car, no messing about having to change this and that, just concentrate on the driving.

Because I did not race in the E of E region last year I have no grading so for this round of the series I started in heat one. The rest of the series will be seeded on a drivers average points score so I should be in the top heat for the next round at Coastal.

Round one began and the other lads and lass were very kind to me (as i'm so old) and with the very great help of Ben the ref, I made my way through the field to win the heat. The other heats were run and a quick look at the times reveal TQ for round one, so well pleased with that.

Round two and one silly error from me and a slight punt from one of my younger heat buddies and a not so good fourth in round ..... Oops

Round three and a clean run from start to finish gives a second in round so no problem with that one.

Round four and a perfectly clean run until the jump just before the loop (31 second lap) on the final lap sees another second in round, I can live with that.

So qualifying over and I'm second on the grid behind Danny Conway with a score of 1 and 2. As the A final is over three legs (best 2 to count) I finally have a chance to see how well I can do against the fast guys.

A slow off the line start to the first leg sees third place man Mark Everitt sneak past so I'm down a place and looking to get back through to chase Danny. Mark goes a little wide on the next lap and I'm through and chasing hard. Right on the back of Danny but there's no easy way through but after about 5 laps he makes an error and I'm in the lead. Danny chased hard and we circulate a few inches apart for lap after lap until he manages to squirt through a very small gap (I was impressed) and into the lead, he stays there with me in second till the end. Danny 1, me 0

Second leg and a much better start from me to hold off the super quick Mark this time and I'm able to chase Danny. Lap two and Danny is over but I get tagged too and drop to 4th. A couple of corners on and I'm back past Danny and free to chase Mark and John Brown. I didn't see the incident but I'm suddenly past the pair of them and being chased hard by John I manage to win the leg, Danny coming home 4th.
Danny 1, me 1

Third and final leg and its all to play for, with a perfect start for both me and Danny and we pull away from the others and circulate for the entire race with me trying my hardest to find a way through only inches apart. My thought was to try and pass him on the jump before the main straight on the last lap forcing him to risk over jumping and crashing but luckily Danny had a better plan, he decided to roll over as I heard his groans along the rostrum I said thanks old friend and cruised around the last three corners to take the win.
Danny 1, me 2

Excellent result for the Team C TM2 with a 123 in qualifying and a 1 and 2 final result with an unlucky Mark Everitt coming in 4th overall.

Roll on the next round at Coastal, looks set to be a fantastic series ........... 4wd? now that's a whole different story

Nice one Alec! What were the conditions/track surface like & your corresponding rough set-up?

I think Holbeach used to fall under the mid-east region many years ago & I used to enjoy racing there - is it still a grass track situated behind that (weird) Motel?

You're thinking of the Anglia Motel. That's been turned into holiday homes now

Eastrax is a purpose built astro track - practically in Norfolk!

Set up as requested for Holbeach . Dry, bumpy astro with a fair bit of sand, but I'd say the grip was medium.

Shocks front: 37.5wt Losi oil, kit pistons with 2 of the holes drilled out to 1.4mm, kit spring, 18mm ride height, middle hole on tower, outer hole on wishbone.

Shocks rear: 25wt Losi oil, kit pistons with 2 of the holes drilled out to 1.4mm, kit spring, 19mm ride height, middle hole on tower, inner hole on wishbone.

Front camber link on longest position with 2mm spacer under inner ballstud, 30 degree caster blocks with I degree of camber, Scumacher yellow low profile cut staggers.

Rear camber link on longest position with 2mm under outer ballstud, alloy I degree rear hubs, 1 degree of camber, Schumacher yellow minispikes. Short wheelbase.

Rear top deck cut through to give flex, no extra weight in car, standard anti squat.

Dualsky 6.5 motor geared 24/85

Wen you say kit spring, you mean the medium I assume.

As Danny said, the big bores, i use the small bores sometimes on very tight and twisty indoor tracks where the car needs to react faster.
