Mardave g2 esc

Have a mardave g2 GT esc
I want to run a 1s lipo as I am running a 4 cell nimh battery ATM
It says on the box 2s lipo is the lowest but other racers have the g2 esc and running 1s
Will mine not run on 1s as it is a gt
Or will it be ok
