After several unfortunate landings last night i have broken the inner of the 2 rear wishbone hangers, think its RF2 in the manual. Ordered a replacement but you have to buy the whole tree costing £11 quid. Are there any after market alloy ones of these that anyone knows about or is it just me thats broken one?

Before you go buying new ones, I and one other person have made the same mistake, kyosho provide you with more parts than you need and myself and another racer both put the wrong one on which is flymsy and weak and we both broke it. We then replaced it with the correct RF2 and its solid. If you look at page 11 I think, it shows you which parts NOT to be used in the kit and you'll probably find you've used the wrong one.

I hope this is the inner rear hanger as I have just cancelled the order for the parts tree in favour of this one.

I would say 99% of the team use this part now, check out Dave Poulters set up from last month . Check the Rear settings and you will see the very same part number being used

Same part used on both RB5 & RB6
Never broke the stock RB6 plastic part but for the cost the ali one is cheap insurance IMHO |

I run one of these also although the plastic ones are very strong now so it's not essential like on the RB5.
You will need to chamfer it a little to clear the motor if you want to increase the anti-squat. |

Will there be an alloy RR wishbone hanger released by Kyosho anytime soon?

What am I doing wrong?
I brought the UMW514GM alu rear sus holder only to find it is wider than the stock part? causing less rear toe in? |

Having fitted mine last night I find your right. I guess it's not having much of negative effect as Kev Lee runs with it. Be good to understand from Kev how this effected his car in any way and what he needed to do to comensate for it.

That is the right part, if you built the car with the RF (not RF2) you'd have about 4.5 deg of toe in

With this new part it gives lots of antisquat. Have the guys who have it fitted filed this part down to reduce the overall levels of antisquat?

it doesn't give anymore anti squat nor any more toe in
i would have a guess that when you built the car you used the wrong part from the part tree take a look at page 11 of the build manual all parts that are grayed out are not used in mid motor version build or on this car at all,the alloy part needs some small dremeling on the back topside corner this is just to give you max movement of your motor for meshing as it hits the motor take a look when fitted you'll see what i mean, as far as anti squat it cant make any difference, please post close up pics

I bought mine second hand and it was in rear motor configuration. Is the rear hanger (not the inner rear one) the same for rear and mid motor configuration. The reason I ask is I didn’t get any of the other parts from that tree. Looking at the anti squat issue, do your wishbones look parallel to the chassis or are they at an angle as mine are definitely at an angle? The flatter they are the less anti squat and therefore the more cornering traction you get isn’t it? I’ll take some pictures tonight and post them up

The UMW514 brace is the replacement for the RF2 plastic version. I was under the impression that they were identical but after measuring last night it seems they are not.
As mentioned, the alloy version is slightly wider (about 0.7 between centres) so it will give about 0.5 degrees less toe in. It will also increase the wheelbase very slightly. I don't know for sure but I guess it may be due to shrinkage of the plastic part after the moulding process. I remember there was a similar occurence on the X Factory X6, in that the 4 degree plastic brace gave 3.5. As far as i'm aware the entire team are using the alloy version so all of the setups you see posted already take this into account. Kev |

Can I ask kevin is the original plastic item a weak part and that's why most of the team are running them or is it just bling , I have only run mine once and had some heavy landing but it did jump and land flat on all four wheels but mine is fine . If there a weak part maybe it's something worth considering to buy also what about the rear hubs does the team run the alloy ones of these too because I know the rb5 ones could break and most people I knew with a vega put alloy rear hubs on them
