Yesterday, I went to my local remote Cars shop and there was sitting a losi desert ruck on the counter.
I drewled for a while, but my girlfriend conviced me that buying another car would be useless, "U can only drive one at a time" she said. I agreed and bought my DF-03 spare parts and started my 1hour drive home. When I came home I did some research on this truck and found out that it was pretty new en ppl where exited about it. Then I realised that i forgot to buy some E-clips, so I had to drive back to the store... I stood there and tought, well why not... Result: ![]() My wallet was €244 lighter but i got myself a Desert truck! Losi packed the car nicely so that the spring are supported in transport. ![]() It really looks good and nicely packed for transport. The tools and the 2.4 ghz transmitter are in the little boxes on the left. And it even looks better on the box then in the box. ![]() As you notice, the truck's rear is sitting a bit lower because the motor is in the back. Like a good truggy the point of pivot is 2cm (+-1.5inch) to the rear. The truck comes with a 12T limited brused ESC and a 19T motor. When I first started it with a TO 4500 6cells, i drove exacly as fast as a lazer zx5 RTR. It is a lot of fun to drive this thing. When u jump it does not really matter how high u jump, the chassis does not hit the ground, this can seem like a disadvantage, but whenu drive and jump on a rocky surface it is really a pro. After one battery pack I decided to put in a eZrun 35A ESC / 4200kv (9T) set. I powered it with a 3200mah TO carbon 2S lipo pack. I tough it would run a little better, but when i throttled the car went crazy, wheeleed like crazy. I got a speed of 55km/h (35mph) on concrete. I was amazed to feel completely under controle, the standard tyres have surprisingly a lot of grip. It is a lot harder to jump with. (I apologise for the bad quality of pictures) ![]() This thing can really jump! I did forward an backward backflips with and without crashing ![]() ![]() This car looks really good on jumps and is a real challenge to keep straight in the air. When night is falling the lights on the car look really good, I tought that I would remove those, but they look really good! On our dirt track it was hard to race with a trf501x, but it looked better and was waay more fun! When i felt i was losing i just ran over the ![]() This is a picture of the car compared to a 1/10 buggy. ![]() The car really took a lot of crashes in the few battery packs I ran and thanks to the rollcage the car has no scratch at all. I must say i reinforced the body on the inside with ducktape, when u take a turn at high speed the wheel can touch the body and to prevent damage from the wheel or other sources the ducktape really helps. So score card 1/10 desert truck : ![]() |

They are one of our most popular sellers at the moment we cant get enough of them, They are tough and well built and excellent value for money, what more can a newbie or basher want in in EP truck.

And for anyone who might be interested, it has a sealed geared diff which might fit a XXX and XXXT...
Low maintenance and might cope with brushless a little better than ball diffs ![]() |

Indeed, the sealed geared diff is really nice to have on this truck!

The DT gear diff is a very nice unit. I have it in my XXX-CR. What you need to make it fit in the XXX-CR buggy is just the DT tranny case. Then you need to drill the screw holes, or just buy the longer DT tranny case screws. I run mine with Mugen 2000 wt oil on loose and loamy Swedish tracks. Works really good, no leaking at all. It doesn't feel "notchy" either. The weight of the whole unit is about the same as the ball diff.
