so when it comes to speed controllers ive had a turbulant history with new and 2nd hand escs , i dont run wild set ups , boost , or any other extreme settings on any speedo, generally close to factory settings. ive run novak systems (gtb, havok pro, havok pro sc) generally these systems were ok but two failed on me mysteriously fine one race , glitch and dead the next, and i never felt any of them were a good speedo even when new
i also ran a losi sytem , fast and lots of adjustment but me along with many others had issues and replacemant escs ( thanks horizon) but others , who didnt tweak the settings to hard seemed ok, still i rate it as a bit crap, i ran a fusion exceed 6.5 system which was pretty good but used to lose settings randomly and eventually after a hard years racing started glitching and died possibly from overheating but it was the same set up i ran all year and it was my regular track so unsure what really did it, also had an exceed 10.5 system that worked great. no issues but generally my favorite speed controller by a long shot is the lrp sxx ive had all the versions at some point , stock spec , tc spec , version 1 and 2, all of these were great to set up and i felt the power delivary and generall response was great , well above any of my other escs one died at the oople race 2 years ago, overheating maybe but again the car had raced three rounds fine then glitched and died on fourth ? one i plugged in the wrong way(v1),, ![]() my latest two are both tc spec , a version 1 and a version 2 the version one has been a great speedo got it 2nd hand over a year ago and it worked great up to about a month ago when it stared to glitch slightly when first turned on it would send a pulse to the wheels but then it would be completely fine during the race and had no other issues but was worrying me a bit, so i swopped it out for my sxx v2 a few weeks ago , this has been brilliant for the last three meeting , it felt the best sharpest fastset speedo ive ever used then today while working on the car beetween round three and four i turned it on it was fine it span the wheels turned it off for 30 secs and that was it , it wouldnt turn on or light up the reciever, it had died ![]() so now i have a glitchy sxx v1 and a mysteriosly broken sxx v2 i hear that an upgrade kit is available for the v2 ( and possibly v1) my first question is where can i get this kit or do i have to send my esc off and if so who to ? links please...and also has any one got this v2 upgrade is it any good i dont want to change from lrp gereally they are faultless, but the way they can die sneakily with no warning worries me, i understand smoke and flames you no its dead, but to just give up , for no obvious reason is weird, so advice and ways of keeping my lrps going is appreciated my second question is what other speedos that are simaler to the sxx and have a history of good reliabillty and are easy and quick to set up, would you recommend if i was to consider changing brands, (i probably wont but its nice to no my options) is blue really better ? and if not how can i make it better discuss cheers boys

LRP SXX V2 ESCs have always had a weak BEC that can fail at any time. If you get get the receipt, SMD (the importers) will fit the new board free of charge. Otherwise, it is around £45 to buy from them. It will then be up to the standard of the Flow.

Johnny, in your situation i'd sack the LRP's and get a Dualsky, Dave's runs cooler than anything i've seen with his 5.5 in. I know when my SXX V2 gives up that's what i'll be getting.
